Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multiaward winning Blood Brothers. Bill Kenwright’s production surpassed 10,000 performances in London’s West End, one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone. It has been affectionately christened the Standing Ovation Musical, as inevitably it ‘brings the audience cheering to its feet and roaring its approval’ (The Daily Mail). The Life in a Day
Thebes Land
Snooker Legends
Performed by Anna-Jane Casey
By Sergio Blanco
Thu 11 April
Mon 1 April 7.30pm
Tue 9 – Wed 10 April
As one of the West End’s leading ladies for over 25 years, Anna-Jane Casey’s (Calendar Girls, Annie Get Your Gun) talents for singing, dancing and acting have been well exercised and proven. Through her time as a performer, she has been perfecting her cabaret and concert work worldwide with diverse accompaniment from symphony orchestras to jazz trios.
When S, a successful playwright, is commissioned to write a play about patricide, he asks the Home Office for permission to make the show with Martin, a young man who is serving a life sentence in prison for stabbing his father to death with a fork. As opening night approaches, S’s world is blown apart as he discovers that there is much more to Martin than he could ever have imagined.
The Snooker Legends are back for their tenth year with the staging of the Sheffield Masters, part of the World Seniors Snooker Tour.
Alongside musical director Paul Herbert, Anna-Jane’s combination of pop, comedy, ballads and musical theatre songs will have audiences enthralled and her range of vocal styles will leave you moved and elated.
After two sell-out runs at Arcola Theatre in London, CASA Festival brings its Off West End award-winning and critically acclaimed Thebes Land to Sheffield.
This is your last chance to see The Life in a Day, ahead of Anna-Jane premiering her new cabaret with her sister Natalie Casey (Hollyoaks) in 2020. Studio Theatre

Idomeneo
Sat 20 April, 7.30pm
By Mozart
After a hit show last year, the Olivier Award winning Showstoppers are delighted to be returning to Sheffield! A brand new musical comedy is created from scratch at each performance as audience suggestions are transformed on the spot into all-singing, all-dancing productions with hilarious results. Wed 17 April 7.45pm Returning from the Trojan War and caught in the midst of a storm, King Idomeneo promises the raging seas that he will sacrifice the first person he meets, in return for his safe passage. Barber Shop Chronicles Written by Inua Ellams
Crucible Theatre Tue – Sat 7.30pm Thu 23 and Wed 29 May 1.30pm Sat 2.30pm From £15.00
Wed 22 May – Sat 1 June One day. Six cities. A thousand stories. For generations, African men have gathered in barber shops. Sometimes they have haircuts, sometimes they listen, more often than not they talk. Barber shops are confession boxes, political platforms, preacher-pulpits and football pitches... places to go for unofficial advice, and to keep in touch with the world. Barber Shop Chronicles is a heart-warming, hilarious and insightful play, set in Johannesburg, Harare, Kampala, Lagos, Accra and London. The play invites the audience into a uniquely masculine environment where the banter may be barbed, but the truth always telling.

Accessing Sheffield Theatres We pride ourselves on offering a warm welcome and a fantastic theatre experience that is accessible for everyone. Facilities at Sheffield Theatres include: Level entrances to the main foyers and lift access to each floor of both the Crucible and Lyceum. The lift in the Crucible is located to the right of the main entrance as you enter the building. The lift in the Lyceum is accessed via the Stalls Bar (to the right of the main entrance). The main Box Office, located in the Crucible, features a lower counter. There are spaces in each auditorium for wheelchair users, which can be booked by calling the Box Office (not currently available online), as well as a number of seats with level access. For customers with limited mobility, our Box Office team can advise on the best areas to sit, including whether there are any steps to navigate. Assistance dogs are welcome in public areas of the theatre, including the auditorium during the show. Alternatively we can take care of them during the performance, we ask that you pre-book your dog if you would like us to do this. A loop system is available at the Box Office counter and we operate an infrared system in the auditorium. Accessible toilets are located in both buildings, the Crucible also has a Changing Places toilet.
For performances, we offer: Audio Described Performances and Touch Tours Audio description provides a live commentary of the action on stage, interspersed with the actors’ dialogue. Description can be listened to via a headset linked to the infrared audio system. Some Audio Described performances are preceded by a Touch Tour offering the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the set, props and costumes in advance of the performance. British Sign Language Interpretation Box Office staff can advise on the best seats for a good view of the interpreter and stage. Captioned Performances Captioning converts the dialogue and sound effects on stage into text which is displayed on a screen on or near the stage. Relaxed Performances In a Relaxed Performance audience members can move around freely, leave and enter the auditorium as needed, the lights never go completely dark and sound effects are softened. Dementia Friendly Our Dementia Friendly Performances are specially adapted to meet the needs of people living with Dementia. Our team are trained Dementia Friends and we're proud to offer a Dementia Friendly experience.
If you have queries about your trip to the theatre or would like to find out how we can help to improve your visit, please don’t hesitate to contact us on access@sheffieldtheatres.co.uk.
