The Full Monty, which has become one of the most phenomenal theatrical productions ever, returns to Sheffield where it all began for one last time!

Based on the smash-hit film and adapted for the stage by Oscar-winning writer Simon Beaufoy, this hilarious and heartfelt production has received standing ovations every night and won the prestigious UK Theatre Award.

Two famous playwrights, one jealous composer, an unorthodox waiter, and a mistimed lifeboat drill… let the sharp Atlantic winds turn to gales of hysterical laughter as our colourful characters become tantalisingly tangled in a Stoppardian string of absurd events, as they feverishly try to rehearse a show whilst en route to New York.

A HUNDRED DIFFERENT WORDS FOR LOVE By James Rowland

BARBER SHOP CHRONICLES

Wed 22 May – Sat 1 June

Written by Inua Ellams Directed by Bijan Sheibani

A Fuel, National Theatre and Leeds Playhouse Co-Production

One day. Six cities. A thousand stories. Following two sell-out runs at the National Theatre and a world tour, Inua Ellams’ acclaimed Barber Shop Chronicles comes to Sheffield. Newsroom, political platform, local hotspot, confession box, preacher-pulpit and football stadium. For generations, African men have gathered in barber shops to discuss the world. These are places where the banter can be barbed and the truth is always telling. Directed by Olivier award-winning director Bijan Sheibani and designed by Rae Smith (War Horse), Barber Shop Chronicles is a heart-warming, hilarious and insightful new play that leaps from a barber shop in Peckham to Johannesburg, Harare, Kampala, Lagos and Accra over the course of a single day. Don’t miss this “joyous and life-affirming” (Independent) smash-hit.

Studio Theatre 7.45pm From £13 Presented by Tangram Theatre Three years ago, James met the love of his life. A year ago, they broke up. This is James’s story of falling in love and landing broken hearted. It’s also about him being Best Man of Honour at Sarah and Emma’s wedding, and it’s the story of a quest: to find the right words to make sense of love. Winner of the VAULT Festival Best Show Award 2017, this is the follow up to the acclaimed, national sellout tour Team Viking.

“A master storyteller”

THE AUDIT (or Iceland, a modern myth) Wed 22 May Studio Theatre 7.45pm From £13 Presented by Proto-type Theater There’s a shadow coming, across the sea. Long and terrifying. The vultures are circling, the wolves are howling… how can we weather this storm? The global economy is a mess. The crash has landed, the tide’s swept out, and it’s taken our hope with it. There’s less in our pockets and more to be spent. The rich have got richer, the middle’s squeezed tight, and the poor are being dragged ever downwards.

CUSTODY Wed 29 May

Studio Theatre 7.45pm From £13

‘There was a bit of a scuffle, and I’m sorry to say, he passed away.’ Custody is the experience of a close British family who lose their loved one in the hands of the police, leaving them broken, distraught and hungry for justice. Whilst coming to terms with their loss, they are thrust into a strenuous legal battle, exposing the truth behind a system that begs the question ‘who polices the police?’. An explosive political drama that unites us in the spirit of what it means to be human.

“This is coolly reasoned theatre, produced by proto-type theater with stylish aplomb” The Guardian
