Lyceum Refurbishment
Please support us in raising funds to refurbish this beautiful theatre and improve your experience of visiting the Lyceum.
This year, the Lyceum Theatre will be refurbished in a £1.9 million project. Having already secured £1.5 million towards the refurbishment (from Arts Council England and Sheffield City Council) we need to raise the remaining funds ourselves. Plans for the refurbishment include: • Installing air conditioning in the auditorium • Refurbishing the Balcony seating • Moving the cloakroom to the ground floor, creating buggy parking and additional baby changing facilities • Adding ladies toilets • Installing new lighting and a sound system
In addition to these changes, there will be a number of improvements made backstage to equipment, some of which is over 20 years old, and to the building itself. These changes include installing new LED lights and solar energy panels, which will reduce our energy consumption and thereby our operating costs. You can support the Lyceum Refurbishment by making a donation when you buy your tickets or through DONATE (the National Funding Scheme). Simply text LYCM001 to 70970 to give £5.00*. Alternatively, contact our Fundraising Team on 0114 201 3820.
Please help us make our ambition a reality. *Your donation is to the National Funding Scheme (Registered Charity No 1149800). For full T&Cs, see www.don8.to

Dawn French in 30 Million Minutes
Thu 5 - Sun 8 June 8.00pm 30 Million Minutes will consist of various delights and riches, with the odd irksome tribulation thrown in, as Dawn takes audiences through the various lessons life has taught her, and the things she knows for sure. It’s also worth coming if only to finally witness what size she actually is. Can we believe the stolen images of so many women’s magazines? What is the truth? Is she so unfeasibly large that she can hardly live? Or does she sleep in a matchbox? Marvel at how one woman can mercilessly murder so much chocolate, and yet remain so curiously slim… As a big fat liar once said of her ‘Her singular attempt to be ordinary fails miserably.’ Catch the show. Or feel like a fool. Lyceum Theatre

Mansfield Park by Jane Austen adapted by Willis Hall Directed by Valerie Mills
Tue 22 – Sat 26 July Following previous success (Carrie’s War, Anne of Green Gables and Treasure Island), Denys Edwards Players return to the Crucible Studio to celebrate the 200th anniversary of this classic story. Mansfield Park is a magnificent, idyllic estate which is home to the wealthy Bertram family and where Fanny Price, the story’s heroine and a ‘poor relation’ is living so that she can be properly brought up. However, Fanny’s childhood is a lonely one as she is never allowed to forget her place. Acutely conscious of her inferior status, she dares to love their son Edmund - but from afar. However, with five eligible young people on the premises, the peace at Mansfield cannot last.

Brassed Off: Deborah Paige and Paul Allen in Conversation
The National Theatre Story with Daniel Rosenthal
Sat 10 May 1.00pm
The last year has been a watershed in the life of the National Theatre: a chance to celebrate 50 years of NT history but also to anticipate the next chapter in the story, as Rufus Norris was unveiled as Nicholas Hytner’s successor as the National’s Director.
In March 1998, the world-stage premiére of Brassed Off was a smash-hit in Sheffield before transferring to the Royal National Theatre. Adapted from Mark Herman’s screenplay by Paul Allen and commissioned and directed by then Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres Deborah Paige, Brassed Off captured a South Yorkshire mining community facing the destruction of their industry and the aftermath of the miners’ strike. Join Paul Allen and Deborah Paige in conversation to discover how this rousing story of community spirit and triumph against adversity made the journey from screen to the Crucible stage. This is an exclusive Fundraising event for Sheffield Theatres’ Prestige Club members. Adelphi Room, Crucible Theatre £10.00 Find out more about what benefits a Centre Stage Membership can offer you at sheffieldtheatres.co.uk or call our Box Office on 0114 249 6000.
Sat 24 May 1.00pm
The National Theatre Story is the definitive account of this iconic institution. Theatre historian and broadcaster Daniel Rosenthal has enjoyed unrestricted access to the National Theatre’s archives, as well as over 100 new interviews with the likes of Alan Bennett, Judi Dench, Ian McKellen, and all four of Laurence Olivier’s successors as NT Director: Peter Hall, Richard Eyre, Trevor Nunn and Nicholas Hytner. Join us for an illuminating discussion covering half a century of drama, both on and off-stage. Copies of the book will be available to purchase. This is a Fundraising event for Sheffield Theatres.
