Final In the Avatar project we were told to utilize all 4 of the drawing techniques, line, stippling, grey scale, and crosshatch, to create an image that would represent us for the rest of the semester. The concept behind the image that I created is that I, being the implied face, am absorbing the techniques from the puddle of ink below and they are becoming apart of me. This idea visually represents me learning and retaining the techniques we utilized in this project and also how I will retain all of the techniques I learn throughout the rest of the summer semester as well as the semesters after. I utilized charcoal, technical pen and graphite pencils in the Illustration.

Final In the Product Illustration Project we were told to pick an interesting object and recreate it with technical pen using either crosshatching or stippling. I chose my Kokeshi doll because it was not only a fun object to look at and draw, but also because of the way light reflects on its surface, which would allow me to have a lot of value range and create a very eye-catching piece. I chose stippling for this object because I would be able to capture all of the value changes more accurately with this technique. I utilized .35 technical pen on this Illustration.

Final In the UBS, Ultimate Bedtime Story, Project told to pick a sentence from a list of sentences and create an Illustration that tells the story as if for a book a parent would read to their child. The sentence I chose was, Once there were many, now there are only two. The concept behind this Illustration is that there were once many robots but a great tragedy befell them and now there are only two left, but they are being crushed by the bodies of their dead companions and try to reach to each other in some hopes of escaping alive. The angle at which the closest robot is helps lead the viewer to the second robot and also helps establish how close, yet how far they are from each other. The trench also helps show the many robot bodies as well as the lengths the robots would have to travel in order to help one another. The robot skull in the lower left corner was placed there to show that the bodies of the other robots are literally piled all around them. Black Watercolor, Charcoal pencil, and Watercolor pencils were utilized in this Illustration.

Final In AWTTF, A Walk Through The Forest, Project we were lead through different situations and each saw our own forests and each object in that forest based on our own personal experiences. I chose to do the wall that I saw in my forest because it would create a very dynamic composition since it was such a tall wall. That is why the angle is looking up so the viewer would see the wall from my perspective. The lighting also helps establish how tall the wall is and how high up the trees are with the strong light source. Black Watercolor, Charcoal, Technical pen, and Graphite pencil were utilized in this illustration.

Final In the Matte Painting Project we were told to choose and action figure and create background for that action figure. I chose Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist my action figure because his position was fun and defensive and would allow me to create an illustration that reflected this. I chose to make a silhouette of the character Envy, also from Fullmetal Alchemist, to shroud him in mystery so that not only would the viewer be intrigued by the mysterious figure but also to help establish that Alphonse is unsure of the figure as well thus why he is in the defensive position. The sky was kept light because of the strong lighting on Envy and Alphonse, which is also established by Envy’s elongated shadow. The shadow also helps lead the viewer to and from Alphonse making the relationship between the characters even more dynamic. Black Watercolor, Charcoal, and Graphite pencils were utilized in this Illustration
Project 6: Student Choice

Final In the Student Choice Project we were asked to revisit an old idea from a previous journal or even an old project and develop the idea further into a final Illustration. I chose to revisit a jellyfish I had drawn in our first journal because jellyfish are pretty and delightful creatures to watch in the water. They would also create an interesting composition because they are translucent. I chose stippling because it would be very effective in helping me create the translucency of the jellyfish and also the angle of the jelly fish helps establish that they are floating up towards the viewer giving them unique perspective on the jellyfish. I utilized Black Watercolor in the background to help offset the jellyfish. I used .30 Technical pen in this Illustration.
