My great-grandfather, U.S. Senator Lister Hill, always said: “Public service is the highest of callings.” Four years ago, I answered that call to serve the people of my hometown in the Alabama Legislature. I promised to put the people of Montgomery ahead of political parties and their monied interests. My commitment to that promise has, time and again, frustrated the political establishment. I feel called to continue my service beyond the Alabama State House and serve all the people of this great state. A strong, independent leader puts Alabama’s interest above his own. So, it is with a humble heart and firm resolve that I am seeking the office of Attorney General. Alabama deserves an Attorney General who will prosecute crime and corruption and fight for

After being raised in Baldwin County on my family’s farm and sawmill, I spent four decades of public service and in public affairs. In 2010 I was elected Alabama’s Commissioner of Agriculture & Industries. At outset of my term, we have undergone
dramatic cuts in our department’s funding, resulting in layoffs. We have survived this tumult in large part by increasing the productivity of our employees through technology upgrades. Our department supports about one-third of Alabama’s economy through timely inspection of Alabama’s $6 billion+ agricultural output. We have forged solid relationships with our stakeholders in agriculture and agribusiness, especially regarding strategic planning for our economic future to expand opportunities and create jobs. I would appreciate the support of the voters of Alabama for a second term in order to continue building the Department of Agriculture & Industries to better support the people and economy of our Great State.

My number one priority is to both lead and serve the citizens of Alabama. I will focus on creating jobs, funding education, and expanding Medicaid — all of which are linked. We must maintain an employable work force in order to recruit new industry and create jobs. This cannot be done without education. I believe implementing the lottery would help financially support both our fledgling public school systems and trade schools, as well as our universities. Proper healthcare ensures a healthy population who can and want to work. This can only happen with the expansion of Medicaid, without which we could lose many of our rural hospitals and the care and jobs they provide.

Elected in 2010, Governor Robert Bentley immediately went to work creating well-paying jobs for the people of Alabama. When Governor Bentley took office in 2011, the state’s unemployment rate was 9.3 percent. Today Alabama has the lowest unemployment rate in the South at 6.1 percent. Governor Bentley continues to keep the promise he made to Alabamians, that he would not accept a salary until Alabama reaches full employment (5.2 percent). To date, Governor Bentley has never taken a salary. Prior to becoming governor, Dr. Bentley served two terms in the Alabama House of Representatives. He represented House District 63 in Tuscaloosa. Dr. Bentley was born and raised in Shelby County and graduated from The University of Alabama School of Medicine. He was commissioned captain in the United States Air Force. Upon completion of his military service,
he completed his residency in dermatology at UAB. Governor Bentley currently chairs the Economic Development and Commerce Committee of the National Governors Association. He is the current chair of the Appalachian Regional Commission and co-chairs the Governor’s Task Force on Prescription Drug Abuse through the National Governor’s Association.

I ask for the support of all Alabamians who share my belief that our state needs to embark on a new, productive course of leadership. I am running because Alabama’s unemployment rate remains high, Common Core must be repealed, economic development for certain parts of the state has been neglected, major educational concerns have gone unaddressed, and the management of the Senate requires a lieutenant governor that will function with standards of integrity and leadership that is expected by Republicans and respected by all Alabamians. We Alabamians are not happy if we are not moving forward and winning the battle before us. State government can solve our current problems by offering progress instead of politics; the truth instead of promises; and results instead of excuses. Support

If I can corral them, teach them, help them to learn to be respectful and make the right choices, I can do that for the Alabama State Legislature. “I care about a future that is bigger, brighter, bolder than our past — that radiates trust, tolerance, solidarity, strength, purpose and prosperity. My vision for Alabama’s future engages everyone who strives for success. The impossible seems unthinkable

While I am pleased with what we have accomplished on behalf of the people of this great state, there is much more work to do, which is why I am seeking reelection. Having served Alabama as a public servant for over two decades, I am a staunch fiscal conservative and committed

I am running for the Alabama State Senate because I believe our way of life is under attack. Now is a critical time for not only the future of Alabama but also our country. Across the nation, Obama and his liberal cronies are continuing to spread their overreaching bureaucratic hands — trampling on our constitutional rights and freedoms by passing laws such as Obamacare. And, right here in Alabama, liberal groups are conspiring and working to strip away our Southern principles of personal responsibility, individual liberty and our traditional family values. I am also running for office because I am committed to protecting our families and businesses from the burdening effects of government taxation. For too long we have witnessed the dangers of government’s reckless spending, oppressive bureaucracy and hidden agenda. In my Senate, my number one priority has been and will continue to be ensuring Alabama’s economy is strong and vibrant.
Dr. McClendon did his undergraduate work at Birmingham Southern College and earned his doctorate from the University of Houston. Personal Message:
Although the Republican majority in the Alabama Legislature is only four years old, we have made significant progress in our efforts to reform state government. Following the 2010 elections the Republican controlled legislature passed comprehensive ethics reforms, eliminated wasteful government spending, and lowered taxes on small businesses and Alabama families. I am committed to a conservative philosophy that defends the 2nd Amendment, supports traditional marriage, protects the unborn, and believes Obamacare will hurt our healthcare system and kill Alabama jobs. If you share my conservative principles, I’d ask you to consider me on June 3rd in the Republican Primary.

Despite its name, the State Auditor does not handle your money, but audits and protects all state-owned property – assets worth more than 2 billion dollars: cars, trucks, computers, office equipment, heavy equipment, firearms, etc. That is more money than the entire state general fund! My practice focuses on constitutional and corporate litigation. Daily, I read, interpret, and apply the laws passed by our Legislature. Previously, I served as a senior attorney of an appellate court, and, as part of that job, helped to develop the court’s annual $3,000,000 budget. Thus, I am experienced in reviewing state-agency budgets, one of a Legislator’s primary jobs. I ask for your vote on June 3rd.

Given that leadership in Washington is intent on trampling individual freedoms and state’s rights, we need leadership here in Alabama committed to standing up for our values, opposing the Washington agenda, and protecting the American Dream. Iive been blessed to serve as a minister, a teacher, and a financial manager of multi-million dollar budgets, and this background makes me uniquely qualified to protect our faith, families, and future from the federal government. As the leader of the Alabama coalition to protect traditional marriage and a man of strong faith, the people of the 73rd District can trust me to protect what we hold most dear and secure greater opportunity for them and their family. There is tremendous energy behind our campaign. We’ve knocked on thousands of doors, made thousands of calls, and carried our message of true conservative leadership in the hopes of winning your vote on June 3rd!

Barack Obama and weak leadership have forced our nation down the wrong path. We vote for people who promise to stand for us, but something happens when they get to Washington. I have always been straight forward and plain spoken with the voters. My unmatched conservative record proves that I am willing to lead on difficult issues and can withstand the pressure and personal attacks that accompany genuine leadership. “Supporting” an issue is easy, but leadership takes fortitude. America can regain her lost promise. The best days are still ahead of us, but we have to step out and make it happen by freeing the American people from a federal government that intrudes more and more into our lives. It is that simple. Rest assured; that given the chance, I will continue the fight for traditional, Christian, Alabama values. I humbly ask for your vote for Congress on June 3rd.

I have never run for office before and am not a politician. I have worked at Harbert Management Corporation for 23 years, and am a businessman with long and successful experience creating jobs and opportunity. I am led to quit complaining about Washington, and do something about it. I am a Republican, fiscal conservative, defender of the Constitution and believe in limited federal government. If elected, I will fight spending, work to get Congress to do its job and work to reduce the bureaucracy and regulations that threaten our freedom - beginning with getting rid of ObamaCare. I will also introduce bills to: 1) require that Congress live by every law it passes; 2) impose term limits on service in Congress; and 3) prohibit former members of Congress from lobbying in Washington. I am a husband and father, and faith, family and freedom are the foundation of my beliefs.

The very first thing people ask me on the campaign trail is, “Why would an orthopedic surgeon want to run for congress?” and I tell them it’s because I’m worried we are losing the American Dream. I was the first in my family to graduate college, and I worked in the same factory as my father to pay for that education. Hard work and sacrifice enabled me to change my life’s course and that same opportunity is now fading for my children. The two leading factors in that decline are Obamacare and the national debt, and as a doctor and small business owner, I am uniquely qualified to address both. I’m not running for office because I have to, but I am willing to leave behind a successful medical practice because I believe I can help preserve a future for my

Like many of you, I believe that America is on the wrong track. I believe the American dream is vanishing before our eyes. The over expansive role of government and its resulting debt are threatening much of what we hold dear. We still have time to turn our country around, but the window of opportunity is closing. I decided to run for Congress because there has never been a time in the history of our country where good people with the right ideas are needed more. We need leaders in Washington who understand our nation’s fundamental values, who understand that more government is not the answer. More government is less freedom – at the doctor’s office, at the gas pump, and in so many other ways. Like you, I want to change the way Washington does business. Send me to Congress, and I’ll

On June 3rd, you can make the Alabama 6th Congressional district a spearhead in changing how Washington DC works, and save your country. The Republic is in a dire condition and needs your help. I have owned Royal Bedding Manufacturing in Pelham for the past 26 years. I am not a professional politician, doctor, or lawyer. I am a farmer and a small business owner who has had to learn how to make a living under the burden of federal regulation. Additionally, unlike the other candidates, my family has been personally affected by Obamacare. People often ask why would a small business owner like me run for Congress. I respond by saying“ because if we keep doing the same thing electing the same type of politicians we are going to keep getting the same results.” As a small business owner for 26 years, I know what it takes to balance a budget and make hard decisions on spending priorities. As your next Congressman, I promise to be a shield for small business, help repeal and replace Obamacare, and restore common sense to federal spending.

Rather than playing a negligible role in polarizing national issues — essentially the approach other candidates envision — I will devote my full energies to advocating for the 6th District’s interests in Washington. I will work closely with the district’s businesses, cities, towns, counties, commissions and civic groups to obtain grants, tax incentives and other vital federal support to create jobs, spur economic growth and improve the standard of living for all our citizens. A single lawmaker can’t change Washington, but he can fight for a return on taxpayers’ investment. As a business analyst and editor covering federal legislation and regulation for nearly 30 years and an Alabaster resident for 16 years, I am well qualified to serve the 6th District and Shelby County in Congress. My experience includes a decade as Congressional editor of a daily business publication in Washington, D.C., so I understand the institution better than the other candidates.
