Intended to help Shelby County voters have an understanding of what to expect when they head out to the polls on March 3, this guide has every candidate that will be on the Shelby County ballot for both the Democratic party and Republican party. WHERE DO I VOTE? The county Board of Registrars sends to each voter a certificate of registration that includes the address of that voter’s polling place. A voter who has not received this card should contact the local Board of Registrars for information on his or her polling place. A voter can also verify where he or she votes on the Secretary of State’s website at Alabamavotes.gov. For municipal elections, check with the City Clerk.

BASIC VOTING PROCEDURE u1. The voter appears at the polling place and provides his or her name to a poll worker. The voter must also present an acceptable form of photo identification. u2. A poll worker checks

the individual’s name against the list of registered voters for that precinct. If the voter has an “l” by his or her name, the voter needs to update voter registration information. Before being allowed to vote, the voter must complete a Voter Update Form that is available at the polling place. u3. The voter signs a poll list. If the election is a party primary, the voter must state in which party primary he or she wishes to vote and then must sign that party’s poll list. u4. The voter casts his or her vote. Voting procedures vary according to the type of equipment used. For more specific information, look for instructions printed in large type that should be visible at each polling place. Also,

poll workers will provide information on voting procedures at the voter’s request. Poll workers are not allowed to tell a citizen for whom to vote or to attempt to influence a voter’s choices in any way. Replacement ballots are available if the voter makes a mistake in marking his or her ballot or if the ballot gets torn or otherwise damaged.

HOURS Alabama polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please note that polling places located in the Eastern Time Zone may be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Time. Information courtesy of the Alabama Secretary of State’s office.

For too long, leaders in Washington have sat on the sidelines while others try to figure out what to do about the changing economy and its impact on our lives — what to do about the disruptive nature of new technologies, income inequality, the political and geographic divides, the changing climate and the tumult in our world. Our nation must be governed not from chaos, but from opportunity. We must bridge the river of our divides and get to a higher plane in our politics. As your president, Amy will look you in the eye and tell you what she thinks. And no matter what, she’ll lead from the heart and get things done.

But to help America keep her foundational commitments, to renew the American Dream, and to put it within reach of everyone everywhere. That’s why I am proposing the policies to come. They are the means to a very ambitious but achievable end. They are the tools, the innovations and the investments I believe we can and must achieve to renew the American Dream. Our nation has turned from God, taken prayer out of schools and allowed other forms of “Ideologies foreign and incompatible with American values and morals” to now become common place in our society. We once were a Godfearing nation that stood on the Founding principles of our Fore Fathers. I ask the question? Where will we be in the next 30 years? Will we still remember the words “IN GOD WE TRUST?” The Southern border has been an issue for years. This has become a national crisis that has to be addressed. We can fix the problem by fixing the asylum laws. Those that come to America must enter by merit. “We cannot be a nation without laws.” I am proud to be a Pro-Life supporter 100%. I will make this my top priority to support the president in getting the care the veterans, and their families deserve for life. No veteran should go uncared for. I believe that “We have the right to keep and bear arms” as the Constitution states. This is the

right of every law-biding citizen. Banning certain types of cuns will not solve the gun violence in this Country. It’s not the guns, it’s the people behind the guns. I strongly support our Second Amendment.

Personal Message:

The biggest threat to our Godgiven rights and freedoms comes from within our own country. Within a decade we have seen our nation’s debt and problems multiply. Washington continues to pass multi-thousand page laws and send us unconstitutional, top down mandates. We must fight back against the encroachment of the federal government. Washington does not know what’s best for Alabama. Alabama does. I have spent my life standing on principle, delivering results, and fighting for limited government and low taxation. I have fought the establishment in Montgomery and I will do the same thing in Washington.

You wouldn’t replace Tom Brady with a high school quarterback, it just doesn’t make sense. It’s the same thing with our court system here in Alabama. I am the only candidate in the race for Alabama Supreme Court with experience as a judge. I have spent over 35 years working in Alabama’s appellate court system and I have served as a judge since 2000. I have sat on the Alabama Supreme Court since 2009. Judge Kellum will always be an advocate for children and the elderly, a position that is especially important considering the high number of cases of child, spousal and elder abuse brought before the Court. Because of the nature of her position in the Court, Judge Kellum has always refrained from making public comments on any particular case. Judge Kellum does, however, believe that it is critical that she and the other judges approach every case without preconceptions, and do their utmost to render fair and unbiased rulings in accordance with the law.

For 40 years, the Public Service Commission has set our electricity rates behind closed doors, overcharging us by billions. We pay the second highest power bills in America, because the PSC rubber stamps a profit rate for Alabama Power that is 40 percent higher than the national average. We have almost no homes with solar panels in the two-thirds of the state covered by Alabama Power, because the PSC rubber stamps the outrageous fees set by Alabama Power that make solar panels unaffordable. With our “regulators” working on their behalf and not ours, we are left to pay the bills and bear the pollution. It’s time for the PSC to open its doors, roll up the shades, and start working hard for the people of Alabama.
