Making Dreams Come True
College Choice Foundation
I co-founded this Homewoodbased nonprofit organization eight years ago to help academically talented, motivated students with limited resources and opportunities find their best and most affordable college fit.
Give Me That Old Time Religion
More than Margaritas
Little Donkey
For a decade I’ve been gathering with family and friends at Little Donkey to enjoy the best margaritas in town and food with a southern soul. Even more than their margaritas, I love their passion for and outreach in the Homewood community. Little Donkey has, for almost seven years, donated dinner to the Wild West Roundup, College Choice Foundation’s annual fundraiser.
Into the Woods
Homewood Forest Preserve
If you like to hike or run trails like I do and you don’t have time to go to Red Mountain or Oak Mountain, the heart of Homewood houses what I like to imagine is a “magical forest.” Homewood Forest Preserve off of Armory Road near Homewood High School offers a half-mile loop trail through its gorgeous 30 acres. Our dogs love it even more than I do, as they can scamper through the stream and soak themselves.
Trinity United Methodist Church
My family has been a part of Trinity for 20 years, and it holds sacred memories for me: baptisms, vacation Bible school, confirmations, Discovery weekends, Bible studies, weekly worship, Dill Pickers performances, Element Sundays, and most recently, my daughter Savannah’s wedding. This Homewood neighborhood church welcomes all through its open doors.
What’s Not to Love?
We Love Homewood Day
Homewood’s biggest celebration is a day I cherish. I’ve helped kick it off for many years by running the 5K, and I’ve closed it down by lining the streets to watch the parade, in which, on any given year, one or more of my kids participated: in the band, as a Spangle or as a cheer squad member.
