“ ” THE QUESTION

In the midst of the hardships of 2020, what has brought you the most joy? The day in the spring when my grandchildren were all visiting with me and four of them learned to ride a bike on the same day! There was so much excitement and pride among the cousins.

I have loved seeing my boys during the day (though had forgotten how loud all five Durkins could be) and have felt blessed to have hours usually lost in chaotic, rushed “have tos.”

Marrying the love of my life in July after having to quarantine away from each other on two separate occasions during our engagement. I also wore my mom’s wedding dress.

Getting engaged to Parker Smith on the front porch of our Edgewood home on move-in day!

Bringing home a rescue, Herbert. I think I needed him more than he needed us.

Buying our very first home in West Homewood! I grew up here, am one of the band directors, and now will get to have a family here one day!

My beautiful and healthy grandmother turning 100 years old!

My kiddos were able to play in the creeks where I played when I was young. We saw former neighbors and created some of our own special memories like enjoying Hero donuts.
