Inaugural Tourism and Recreation All Stars Luncheon Set for October 3 The Chelsea Business Alliance, Montevallo Chamber of Commerce and The Shelby County Chamber will co-host the Inaugural “Shelby County Tourism and Recreation All Stars” luncheon scheduled for Thursday, October 3 in
Columbiana. Four categories will be recognized – Lodging, Restaurant and Attractions / Recreation and “Rising Star” (in place to recognize an organization that has truly
distinguished itself in its “first year”).
The nomination deadline was September 6th. Nominations have been reviewed by an independent panel of judges and recipients will be announced at the October 3rd luncheon.

First Shelby County Connect2Careers Event a Success

On September 11 and 12 the Chamber hosted a Connect2Careers event at the Shelby County Exhibition Center in Columbiana. The event was a way for companies throughout the county to showcase the careers that are available right here at home. 1,800+ tenth graders from all
over Shelby County gathered over the two day period to explore, experience and discuss a variety of different career fields that they may not have had exposure to otherwise. The program was made possible by the 150+ company employees and volunteers.

Lisa works for First US Bank as a Financial Service Representative and Loan Officer and has been in the banking industry for over 30 years. The Shelby County Chamber is Now Accepting Nominations for the Annual “Diamond Awards” Program and quantity of materials used to substantiate the award nomination. Categories to be recognized in 2019 include: “Non-Profit Organization of the Year” Category, “Public Servant of the Year” Category and “Citizen of the Year” Category. There will be one recipient recognized in each of the categories: “NonProfit”, “Public Servant” and “Citizen of the Year”. Nominees will be evaluated on the following criteria: - how the organization -- or individual -- has made a positive difference in the County or a specific municipality, - significant accomplishments achieved by the organization or
individual, and - how the organization -- or individual -- has improved the County or a specific municipality.
