To Whom It May Concern: Thank you for taking the time to review this small sample line I created for Thomas Wylde. I desire to work as an assistant designer for Thomas Wylde. Since meeting Ms. Park, listening to her talk about the company, and her own start in the fashion industry I determined to become part of the Thomas Wylde design team. I really appreciate that the company is artistically driven and dedicated to maintaining an innovative style. I graduated with an AA in Fashion Design from FIDM in the spring of 2013. I continued my education at Western Michigan University where I received a BA in University Studies with a focus in Fashion Design and Business at the end of summer 2014. After studying fashion design for the last five years I have accumulated design skills to create collections starting from theme development, initial technical designs, sample fabrics and trims to completed technical design packets, marketing packets, costing sheets, industrial patterns, and sewn garments. At Western Michigan University I tried out for and was selected as one of the designers for MODA (the school fashion club). In this position I single handedly designed, draped, created patterns for, and constructed two fashion collections, which were modeled in MODA fashion shows. While in school I also worked full time as a costume designer for artists Jim Shaw and Marnie Weber. Though costume design is not the industry I intend to pursue a career in, the position provided additional experience, including, garment design and real life experience working with and translating an artists abstract concepts into functional designs. In addition to my experiences and education I understand and am motivated by similar design aesthetic and artistic vision as that of Thomas Wylde. Thomas Wylde was the only company I have a compelling connection with. The vision of an underground luxury brand, which remains true to the art of design, refuses to sell out, or allow the market to be flooded with cheapened versions of their designs, was a concept I had never heard of before Thomas Wylde. Until I found this company I frankly felt cheapened by applying my talent in most of the industry. I now know that your company’s bold vision to use morbid concepts and design details to create luxury, individualized clothing for the modern fashion pioneer is exactly the place where I belong. I would love to have the opportunity to meet with you to discuss further how I could strengthen the bottom line. Please feel free to explore my online portfolio at to view more samples of my work including full design collection, tech pack samples, fashion illustrations and original artwork. If you have any questions please contact me any time by phone or email. Again, thank you for your time. Sincerely, Shelby Andre Date
