Residential DESIGNBECK HOME

O V E R V I E W-

14

Clients, Heidi and Ty Beck have been in love with their 120-year-old farmhouse located in Oregon, Wisconsin, since the day they moved in 19 years ago. Looking back, they would have never believed they could possibly outgrow their big home but 3 children, (now teens) 2 dogs and 6 cats (Heidi dreams of having an animal sanctuary if she could) later they are indeed in need of more space and many updates. The home is on Main St., close to the heart of town making it a fantastic location close to cafes and great schools. Their incredible yard is another love of the home. The property allows them to enjoy many outdoor activities including gardening, a fire pit, a big deck, and their beloved chickens.

CONCEPT: Surrounded by everything they love. Their children, each other, the dogs and cats, their hens, the beautiful yard and the hundred-year-old trees. This is their home. Keeping the integrity of all the things they love about their home- we will add to it. We will make it grow to its full potential. This is the method of design for your home. Simply adding to it. Making changes like expanding into your backyard to offer a kitchen, pantry and laundry room that can truly support your family. A home just big enough for the family to gather and host with family and friends yet remain cozy and welcoming. Using organic shapes and a comforting color pallet their home will continue to be everything you need and everything you never knew you wanted.

RESIDENTIAL DESIGN

PROGRESSION The design progress is just that. Drawing inspiration from the original space and molding it to fit the custom needs of the residential client. Watching the space come to life using 3D rendering software is a thrill known by all interior designers.

16

HOBBY ROOM CUSTOM Residential Design is all about custom needs being met by the client’s designer. The Beck family is a large one. An active one. They needed lots of space. Space to create, and gather, and simply live. This spare room underwent some demolition to be transformed into a

multifaceted room. A

Hobby room that can meet the needs or the

Beck family. Storage, counter space, and beautiful lighting; designed for the kids to do homework and crafts in.

POWDER BATH

AS BUILT:

The biggest problem with this old farm home was the layout. Without ruining the integrity of the old home, we changed the layout by rebuilding a few walls.

RENOVATED:

With the renovation. Guest can now access the powder bathroom without walking through a room.

KITCHEN PROJECT G O A L S:

1

Expand the entire back of the house into the backyard to offer a kitchen, mudroom, and walk in pantry that can support an active family of 5

2

Offer a large island that can fit most the family

3 18

Design an updated farmhouse kitchen that gives lots of storage, useful counterspace, and an overall beautiful design.

BALANCE An apron-front sink adds to the farmhouse charm of this family home. Two-toned cabinets give some color and excitement to the space. The dark navy on the bottom and tall cabinets give balance to the palette.

ISLAND

Including an island in the kitchen was very important for this family. They never had the opportunity to entertain casually and this is the perfect chance for them to host. The ample space for family to gather will inspire great memories.

20

READING NOOK COMFORT Adding an element of comfort to the kitchen was important for this close-knit family. A spot where a quiet moment can take place. A hidden nook that can inspire reading and relaxing.

POWDER BATH RENOVATION:

Entrance to powder bath is now not invading space from another room. Small and

functionally

laied out this luxurious little bathroom will be a favorite in the house.

22

DURABILITY Durability is very important for this large, active family. They love to host but their old layout hindered them from comfortably inviting guests over. A gorgeous floated vanity is a graceful statement in the small powder bathroom. Not only is it stunning, it gives a better opportunity to maintain the cleanliness of the space. The entire back sink wall is tiled with subway tile from floor to ceiling to make cleaning easier.
