An Introduction to Years 7 and 8
The Middle Years of schooling are an exciting and dynamic time. Moving into Year 7, students are developmentally ready for this next stage in their learning journey and the further challenge, variety and growth opportunities that await.
Our programs and extraordinary care at Year 7 via the three Wellbeing Mentors, the Middle Years Coordinator, the teaching staff, our team of psychologists and the Deputy Principal –Student Wellbeing and Development, enable our students to find friends, work together and explore a range of areas through curriculum activities and opportunities. In all ways, students are encouraged to grow in independence, resourcefulness and organisation whilst also challenging their thinking and helping them to learn key content and skills.

Our Integr8 Transition Program enables students and parents to feel a part of the year level before they even begin Year 7 and this feeling of community extends throughout the Middle Years.
In Year 8, the academic program evolves in alignment with students’ development, and they continue to grow in the key subject areas whilst also pursuing either a second language or a breadth subject. This is a year where students continue to make connections within their year level and throughout the school. A greater emphasis on critical and creative thinking and on student agency is evident, along with a need for more responsibility and a greater volume of work.
We love working with students at these year levels, ensuring that they are supported in all aspects of their development, and in working effectively with their families who walk alongside us in this learning journey.
