Bayer designed a brochure for a Graphic Design magazine, Gebrauchsgraphik. It was created in Germany during the Third Reich.

He had work placed in the Nazi propaganda exhibition then he left Germany and traveled to Italy.

Settled in New York City Started a long career in nearly every aspect of graphic arts
1944
Bayer married Jella Syara Heweis which was a former Bauhaus student and daughter of Mina Lay, a Dada artist. He also became a U.S citizen.
1946
Hired by Walter Paepcke and moved to Aspen Colorado where he continued architecture work. He co-designed Aspen Institute, began restoring the Wheeler Opera House, and created promotional ski posters that had wit, excitement and glamour.
