2015 Student Association Cabinet Ratings The following ratings of Student Association directors are calculated from 10 different characteristics, including initiative and performance, with five points possible in each category, said Chief of Staff Greg Lezon. The averages are calculated from ratings by Lezon, SA President Nathan Lupstein, Student Involvement and Leadership Development advisers, Lezon said Sunday at SA Senate.

DeKalb | The Elburn Shuttle will add four routes Tuesday and Wednesday. The shuttle leaves the west side bus turnaround of the Holmes Student Center and goes to the Elburn Station in Elburn. Shuttles are available to transport riders back to the Holmes Student Center, as well. The shuttle, which normally runs on Friday and Sunday, will add one route on Tuesday and three routes on Wednesday, while keeping the Sunday routes, according to the NIU Tickets website. There are less routes on Tuesday to encourage students to stay for the Tuesday night football game, said Rob Jusino, Student Association director of Mass Transit, at a SA Senate meeting Sunday. Three routes from the Elburn Station to the Holmes Student Center will be available for Sunday. The following are the routes available for this week: • 5:20 p.m., Tuesday, Holmes Student Center to Elburn Station • 1:20 p.m., Wednesday, Holmes Student Center to Elburn Station • 3:20 p.m., Wednesday, Holmes Student Center to Elburn Station • 5:20 p.m., Wednesday, Holmes Student Center to Elburn Station • 3:15 p.m., Sunday, Elburn Station to Holmes Student Center • 5:15 p.m., Sunday, Elburn Station to Holmes Student Center • 7:15 p.m., Sunday, Elburn Station to Holmes Student Center Each ticket is $6.25 and nonrefundable or transferable. DeKalb | The Lucinda Express will have a test run next week, said Rob Jusino, Student Association director of Mass Transit. The Lucinda Express was created to run on the Lucinda Avenue extension, which opened Wednesday to connect the main campus to the west side. Lucinda Avenue now extends through where Douglas Hall formerly stood to Stadium Drive West. The Lucinda Express will be incorporated into the Barsema Express bus route, which runs from Northern View Apartments to Barsema Hall.
SA approves $1.5K in funds for BSU Northern Star staff
DeKalb | The Black Student Union was awarded $1,575 in supplemental funding Sunday to cover costs for its members to attend a two-day conference. The conference will be held Dec. 4 to Dec. 5 at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign by the Central Black Student Union. BSU was originally approved for supplemental funding to attend the National Black Student Union Conference, but several members and the organization’s adviser could not attend, said BSU President Timi Adeboje. Adeboje said the amount originally awarded to send five members to the National Black Student Union Conference would cover expenses for 20 members to attend the conference at the University of Illinois.

Mayor nominates vet to 7th ward alderman post Northern Star staff

Rey will seek to confirm the appointment of a 7th ward alderman nominee today at a City Council meeting. Rey nominated Anthony Faivre to fill the spot of recently-resigned Monica O’Leary as 7th Ward Alderman for the City of DeKalb. Anthony Faivre O’Leary re- Seventh ward signed on Oct. alderman nominee 2, according to an Oct. 15 Northern Star article. Faivre served in the U.S. Navy
for four years, has 30 years of experience in manufacturing and is a deacon at his church, according to the City of DeKalb news release. Faivre graduated from NIU with a degree in manufacturing engineering technology in 1997, according to his resume posted in today’s City Council agenda. In a message to Rey, Faivre said he has lived in DeKalb since 1990. “I have a history of cost savings and process improvement that I feel would be an asset to this position,” Faivre said in a message to Rey, according to today’s City Council agenda.
