Raven’s Husky Haven and Rescue NIU Huskies give back to the community by volunteering at the purebred Siberian Husky shelter on Feb. 2. As of this month, the Sycamore-based rescue, 27779 E. Five Points Road, has saved 98 huskies.

Laura Russell, junior medical lab sciences major, practices leash-walking with Fizzy around the playroom. Russell has been a volunteer with Raven’s Husky Haven and Rescue since December. Established in 2008, Raven’s Husky Haven and Rescue takes care of abandoned or otherwise needy huskies in Northern Illinois and surrounding states, according to Raven’s Husky Haven and Rescues website.

Mackenzie Franklin teaches Jax how to fetch. Raven’s Husky Haven and Rescue dedicates over four acres of land to the dogs, according to the rescue’s website.
