Beyonce gets artistic, emotional in album

Fans ears have been blessed with Drake’s voice yet again as he dropped his fourth studio album, “Views,” which offers a more personal look into the rapper’s life and mind. This 20-track album features songs like “Hotline Bling” and his new single, “One Dance” featuring Wizkid and Kyla. “Views” starts off with a family-friendly track and one I took a quick liking to, “Keep the Family Close.” The familiar deep beats and drops add to the sadness of the

song as Drake raps about his trust issues. “9,” “Views” second track, is another one of my favorite songs because of the passion in Drake’s voice. I like that the song is almost angry-sounding. The familiar thumps from “Keep the Family Close” make an appearance once again in “9,” and the passion from his voice is very apparent as he raps about his hometown. I like this song because it reminds me of the saying “never forget where you came from,” and Drake definitely sticks to his roots in “9.” Another song I took a liking to

Queen Bey makes an artistic return to her thrown after giving viewers quite the surprise Saturday when she released the emotional and mature “Lemonade,” a visual album that aired on HBO. “Lemonade” features 13 songs – 12 of which have videos that are featured on the 60 minute movie that comes with the digital purchase. This is Beyonce’s sixth studio album to debut at No. 1, according to Billboard, and is her most mature album yet. “Lemonade” is dreamy, powerful and honest. It also shows Beyonce at her most vulnerable state as she passionately sings about her confessions as a pop star who is constantly in the limelight. The album opens with the singer’s solo and hit single, “Pray You Catch Me.” The song is one of Beyonce’s most honest tracks yet because one can hear and feel the emotion in her voice through the song. The eerie pianos add to the pain in her voice and enhance all the emotions she has bottled up. Listeners can sense the anger and hurt in her voice. “Pray You Catch Me” is a wonderfully surprising starter to the album. Usually, Queen Bey greets listeners

This song features Pimp C and Dvsn as they rap about being invested in a girl who wants nothing more than to focus on her independence. I like this song because it shows that Drake has a sensitive side. It also reminds me of songs from “Take Care.”

with something more energetic, but this is a pleasant surprise because it demonstrates her maturity. “Hold Up,” the album’s second track, is a reminder of how fierce Beyonce truly is. Her stone-cold voice adds to the pent-up anger she is feeling in the song. This is a very empowering song for women, and I like how Beyonce acts as a voice for women who are afraid to say how they feel. “Formation,” is another one of my favorites because, like “Hold Up,” it is empowering and catchy. I see it as another anthem for women because the song is telling us all to “form” together to create a newer and better form of sisterhood and empowerment. I enjoyed “Lemonade” because it showcases real emotions. “Lemonade” is her best album yet because it shows Beyonce at her most vulnerable, honest state as an artist. I was pleasantly surprised to see how she included themes of depression, anger and betrayal in this album because I have never taken Beyonce as a musician who could display these types of emotions so vividly and openly. Most of her songs are upbeat, so to see her take a different route musically is refreshing.
