White Sox fall to Blue Jays Saturday The Associated Press
Chicago | Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey called it “bizarro world.” Manager John Gibbons broke into a hearty laugh. No one in the Blue Jays clubhouse could explain how they became just the third team in major league history to give up seven home runs in a game and win. Chicago tied a team record with those seven long balls, but it wasn’t enough as Edwin Encarnacion drove in four runs, Devon Travis homered and Toronto held on to beat the White Sox 10-8 Saturday. “I don’t think I’ve ever been a part of a game like that,” Gibbons said. Chicago joined Detroit as the only teams to lose after hitting at least seven homers. All seven homers were solo shots. Brett Lawrie became the first White Sox player since Ron Santo in 1974 to hit inside-thepark homers in the same game.

Cubs lose 3 at home for first time this season Scott Nicol Sports Editor
Even with the ‘Anthony Rizzo short shorts’ themed travel day Wednesday, the Chicago Cubs dropped three out of their four games against the Miami Marlins over the weekend. The Cubs (48-26) have lost six of their last 7 games overall, including being swept at home by the St. Louis Cardinals for the first time in a three-game series since May 1988. Wednesday also marked the first time this season the Cubs have lost three straight at home, and only the second time all season they have lost three in a row. The primary reason for their recent struggles is due to center fielder, and lead-off man, Dexter Fowler going on the 15-day disabled list with a hamstring strain prior to the Cardinals series. Fowler had 7 home runs, 28 RBIs and had the ninth best on-base percentage for all hitters in baseball at .398 until his recent injury. The Cubs remained fairly healthy
last season on their way to a 97-win season end, surprising most clubhouses around the majors. However, this year the Cubs have been bit by the injury bug early starting when they lost outfielder and catcher, Kyle Schwarber, for the season when him and Fowler collided in the outfield in the third game of the season. Outfielder Jorge Soler is on the 15day disabled list and catcher Miguel Montero has missed several games due to a back injury. Heyward has missed a few games when he made an incredible catch and collided with a wall in San Francisco and Anthony Rizzo has missed a few games in the past two weeks due to back tightness. The Cubs will try to remain healthy and end their recent skid as they travel to Cincinnati to face the Reds in a three-game series beginning today before heading to New York to face the Mets for the first time since they were swept in the National League Championship Series in October.
