History of the Day An underwater window was shattered in an Anderson Hall pool, which resulted in 80,000 to 100,000 gallons of water being released onto campus walkways, according to an April 6, 1965, Northern Star article. The shattered window, which was 4 feet underwater, also released

water into offices and a machinery room below the pool. Student Sue Sarfatty was injured when she swam to the window to see what had happened and she was pulled against the broken glass by the suction. Sarfatty was pulled from the water by Patricia Paul, who worked in the women’s physical

education department, and she was taken to the Health Center. Sarfatty was treated for cuts on her legs. The window shattered with no warning and for no apparent reason, said C.J. Trimble, then superintendant of building maintenance. The pool was said to be repaired by the next week.
