Ellett sisters finish time as teammates Patrick Smith Staff Writer T @NSSportsPatrick
DeKalb | Senior Taylor Ellett and junior Connie Ellett won’t be playing alongside each other in women’s golf ’s MAC Championship this weekend. This will officially mark the end of the two sisters playing together in competitive golf as Taylor Ellett has used up her NCAA eligibility. The Ellett Taylor Ellett sisters, from Senior Hampshire, have been playing golf with each other since they were little kids. They played golf to- Connie Ellett gether at Hamp- Junior shire High School, and one year after older sister Taylor came to NIU Connie followed. The sisters have had success as members of the Huskies golf team with both posting top-20 finishes at least twice in their careers.
Q: When did you and your sister begin playing golf? CE: We started playing golf when we [were] 6 and 7 [years old]. We continued being teammates all through high school and college.
Q: What made you girls attend NIU? TE: A little bit was for my mother because she played golf for NIU. For my sister and myself, we came to NIU because it really fit our academic aspirations. My sister being a business major and myself being an elementary education major, this school provides us with the best programs and with the best opportunities.

Q: How will it be different not being able to playing alongside your sister next season? CE: It will be different because she was a huge supporter. I will definitely miss her, but she’ll still be missed as a member on the team. TE: It’s going to be a bittersweet feeling. I’m excited moving on to my elementary education student teaching, but I’ll still be here for another year to finish school. I will still be here to show love and support my sister at the tournament and watch her play. Q: What is one quality that you love about your sister as a golfer and person? CE: I will say my sister is very positive. She put others before herself and does whatever she can to help out the team. TE: Connie is downright competitive. She doesn’t give up, and her determination is what makes her a great person and golfer.
