DeKalb | Men’s tennis (15-8, 3-3 MAC) will head on the road for its regular season finale this weekend as it takes on Binghamton University (12-7, 3-2 MAC) with a chance to move into second place in the conference before the MAC tournament.
“
Since the Western Michigan match we have struggled to find a rhythm in doubles and that has hurt us ... we were able to get back in the match but we were always fighting uphill ... .” Patrick Fisher Men’s tennis head coach
The Huskies defeated the Bearcats on Feb. 6, 2015, by a score of 4-3. Binghamton is also looking to secure the second seed in the conference.
NIU has struggled in doubles matches since a 7-0 loss to Western Michigan University on March 25. The team will need to perform better in doubles if they have a chance at picking up a high seed heading into the MAC Tournament, which is scheduled to start April 29. “Since the Western Michigan match we have struggled to find a rhythm in doubles and that has hurt us,” said NIU head coach Patrick Fisher after the Huskies’ loss to the University at Buffalo on Sunday, according to an NIU Athletics news release. “It is unfortunate, we were able to get back in the match but we were always fighting uphill. It’s a game of momentum swings and Buffalo had another run in them.” Matches against Binghamton will start at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Binghamton, N.Y.
