DeKalb | Football (8-3, 6-1 MAC) will look to defeat the Ohio Bobcats (7-4, 4-3 MAC) Tuesday for a chance to win the MAC West for the sixth straight season. The Huskies defeated Ohio 2114 on the road last season behind a game-winning touchdown as junior quarterback Drew Hare connected with junior receiver Chad Beebe on an 18-yard pass with six minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Huskies’ defense went on to stop Ohio from reaching the end zone on its last possession.
NIU is undefeated at home this season and is currently on a sixgame winning streak. Its last loss came against Central Michigan 29-19 on Oct. 3. NIU averages 42.2 points-per-game and has allowed 25 points-per-game since the loss — a plus-17 differential. The Huskies have the No. 1 rushing attack in the MAC, averaging 226 yards-per-game on the ground. The running game is led by junior running back Joel Bouagnon, who leads the team with 18 touchdowns, 245 carries and 1,175 rushing yards. He’s second in the conference with 106.8 rushing yards per game.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Ryan Graham has won three games for the Huskies since taking over for the injured Hare. Graham has completed 57 percent of his passes for five touchdowns and three interceptions thus far. The Bobcats are ranked fifth in the MAC in total defense, allowing 377 yards-per-game. They are sixth in the conference in rushing defense and fourth in pass defense. Kickoff will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Huskie Stadium. With a win, the Huskies will face off against Bowling Green (8-3, 6-1 MAC) in the MAC Championship game Dec. 4 in Detroit, Mich.

DeKalb | Women’s volleyball (19-11, 14-2 MAC) saw its season come to an end Sunday as it lost in the MAC Championship to Ohio after beating Miami (Ohio) in the previous round.
Miami (Ohio) The Huskies defeated the Redhawks in four sets in Saturday’s game, winning all of them by two. Miami gave NIU its first set loss in over a month, but it wasn’t enough as NIU was able to fight through late leads throughout the match. Junior outside hitter T’ara
Austin tallied a career-high 23 digs in the game. The Huskies finished the game with a total of 107 digs. Senior setter Alexis Gonzalez picked up 47 assists in the match. She now ranks in the top 10 of the MAC’s career assists list and is No. 2 on NIU’s all-time career list with 4,809 behind Shelby Snyder who racked up 6,052 assists from 1991 to 1994. Ohio Ohio was ranked second in the MAC going into the Championship game with a record of 25-5 and had won four games in a row. Ohio returned the favor with a 3-0 sweep to win the 2015 MAC
Tournament. The Huskies were never able to catch a groove in the game and got swept for the first time since Oct. 2 against Ball State. Gonzalez finished the game with 31 assists to raise her career totals even more in what turned out to be her last career game at NIU. Her career ends with 4,846 total assists, the third most in MAC history. “At some point, we’ll remember that we were the best in the West and that we were the regular season champions,” said head coach Ray Gooden, according to an NIU Athletics news release. “There’s something to be said for that for all that we went through this year. It’s a testament to all 14 of our players.”
