Registration for the Summer/Fall 2015 semester begins in April TOP TEN HELPFUL HINTS FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT’S REGISTRATION 1 – Make an appointment with your academic advisor as soon as possible. 2. – Check your enrollment appointment time on MYNIU. MyNIU Student Center > Registration time is located on the right side of the page. You can view the date in the box. Click the detail . link to view the specific time. 3 – Make certain you do not have any holds on your record that will prevent you from registering. If so, try to resolve these before your scheduled day and time to register. .

MyNIU Student Center > Your To Do List is located on the right side of the page. You can view any holds that have been placed on your record. Click the detail link to view specific hold information.

4 – Begin planning a schedule of classes you want to take in the Summer/Fall 2015 semester. The schedule of classes is viewable via MyNIU. Be sure to check the schedule of classes in case changes occurred in the meeting time or location of the class offerings. 5 – If a class requires permission to enroll, try to secure that permission from the department offering the course before your enrollment appointment. 6 – Run an academic requirements report to ensure you are registering for courses that will be applicable towards your degree. After you register, run another academic requirements report to make certain the courses do fulfill degree requirements for your current major. Any questions should be directed to your academic advisor. MyNIU Student Center > Other Academic > Academic Requirements > Go 7 – Plan your schedule as necessary around your work schedule, home, and time necessary for your study habits. 8 – If you are still deciding your major, discuss this with your academic advisor. An academic advisor can help you plan a schedule tailored to your interests and goals while you are still deciding and refer you to appropriate resources to help you decide. 9- If you completed any transfer courses at another institution and did not send your transcript to the NIU Office of Registration and Records, please do so at your earliest convenience. If the transfer work was completed after a student reached senior status or was taken while enrolled at NIU, please see your academic advisor. 10- Once you have completed registration be sure to view your entire student class schedule to verify your schedule by following the below navigation within MyNIU. MyNIU Student Center > Other Academic > Class Schedule > Go > Select Term > Continue > My Class Schedule
