The Huskies were outscored 2510 in the series, and only scored a total of two runs in the contests on Saturday and Sunday. The only close game in the series came Friday when the Huskies
rallied in the ninth inning with a two-out, two-run home run by senior shortstop Brian Sisler to pull within one run, but the Huskies late-inning efforts came up short as they lost 9-8. The team collectively made four errors on the day. “It was a tough day,” said Head Coach Mike Kunigonis, according to an NIU Athletics news release. “Anytime you make four errors in a game, you’re going to be behind the eight ball. We battled back in the ninth again but came up short.” The three losses move the Huskies’ overall record to 18-29 and 12-9 in the Mid-American Conference, putting them 2 games behind Ball State University for the MAC West lead with six conference games left, including a three-game series against Ball State University to end the regular season.
