Students line up before the start of the Honors 5K Fun Run 9 a.m. Saturday at Hopkins Park, 1407 Sycamore Road. Proceeds from the event benefit The Birthday Box, a non-profit organization which sends a “party in a box,” including a fresh cake or cake mix, candles, party utensils and a wrapped gift, to children in need.
Luis Perez, junior athletic training major, warms up for the Honors 5K Fun Run by stretching against a brick wall near the start line. ”Properly taking care of your body before a run like this is important,” Perez said.
Junior illustration major Carla Brubaker stretches as she prepares for the 5K Fun Run Saturday at Hopkins Park, 1407 Sycamore Road. The proceeds from the run will go to The Birthday Box, a non-profit organization based in New Jersey. “I really enjoy running,” Brubaker said. “This is going to be fun.”
