Chairperson's Choice and Volunteer of the Year
This year’s Chairman’s Choice award was selected by outgoing Chamber Board Chair Kyle Skarra. He said, “It’s common for people to discuss what they wish would happen. It’s extraordinary when someone puts words into action. This year’s Chairperson’s Choice goes to an individual who constantly strives to push our community forward, dialogues honestly about our challenges, and seeks to collaborate. Whether at City meetings, representing the Economic Development Council, or volunteering in the community… This person focuses on solutions. He has stepped up, above and beyond his responsibilities, and has shown incredible leadership.”
Our thanks goes out to EDC Chair and City of Shelton Deputy Mayor Joe Schmit for his unwavering commitment to creating a vibrant community and for his meaningful collaboration with the Chamber.
Volunteer of the Year

Peter Zhang was chosen by Chamber staff as the Volunteer of the Year in recognition for his contribution to the Chamber’s programs and activities.
Supporting tourism is critical to the Chamber’s mission and it is the dedicated volunteers who make it possible to serve thousands of visitors at the Hoodsport Visitor Information Center each year.
Zhang is often the first boots on the ground in case of any weather or emerging event and he racked up hundreds of volunteer hours last year alone. He is dependable, unfailingly kind, and always willing to help.
