Summer Beautification is Happening Now
Call it small town. Call it curbside appeal. Call it classy. Whatever you call it, the bright blooms that adorn city streets and gateways offer a warm welcome to visitors and enhance the thoroughfares traveled by residents daily. Now a staple of charm and hospitality, the Chamber added the flower baskets to its annual program in 1999.
The hopeful, sunny days this spring seem to have many residents looking ahead to the summer season. The Chamber began receiving phone calls and walk-ins in April from folks asking if the oversized flower baskets will be going up again this year. Yes… and very soon!

There is a tremendous cost in materials, maintenance, and manpower to upkeep the summer and winter décor and funding for this program is raised exclusively through our annual campaign. The Chamber relies on the generosity of our community to help us make this point of pride a reality. Donations can be made toward beautification overall or, for $275 each, an individual flower basket can be sponsored by a business or designated in memoriam of a loved one. The amount collected this year will determine how many baskets will be hung the following year. Please consider making a gift to helps us meet our $20,000 goal!
Just one week remains for you to order your own flower basket for yourself or for a loved one – and they make fantastic Mother’s Day gifts! This sale is made available thanks to our partners at Tozier Brothers Ace Hardware and allows individuals to purchase smaller versions of the gorgeous baskets to enjoy at their own home or business. We sold 150 in just one week to kick start the 2021 fundraising campaign and we are in line to nearly double that this year. Pick up is on Wednesday, April 27 from 9:00a-6:00p and in this case the early bird really does get the worm since it’s first come, first select.
Hanging the flower baskets and trimming the town in Christmastown USA is no small task. The Chamber is grateful to community partners including City of Shelton, Green Diamond Resource Company, Hood Canal Communications, Mason PUD 3, and Skookum Rotary; just a few of those who support these efforts year after year.
If glorious flower baskets aren’t your thing, you can still contribute. Gifts of any amount are appreciated!
You can support beautification by donating via PayPal at masonchamber.com/beautification or by sending a check to Shelton-Mason County Chamber Foundation, PO Box 2389, Shelton, WA 98584. Every dollar is tax deductible now that the Chamber has formed its own 501(c)(3) charitable foundation.
Our appreciation extends to each business, service organization, and individual who provides financial support for this program.
