To connect with your students it is a must for any teacher to know them. A mere memorization of their names is no longer enough. You do not really need to know their life story in general, but at least have an appreciation of their background. With knowing, you may be able to decipher how to approach and deal with them. Take the time to talk to your student or a group of them before or after class. It is a must to always take the first step. If you have trouble talking with a particular student, you can collect some information via his or her friends. This is an excellent way for you to learn their life and is also the key towards knowing how to deal with them. Tip 2: Use resources. The school is considered the second home for students. And there are resources you can be able to use and maximize. With that said, you can also use these in helping them. For example, you can consult your guidance counselor at school and can share this concern with. He or she can make a valuable contribution in terms of giving you tips on how to help some disruptive students. If you have trouble implementing the suggestions, you can even direct students to the counselor’s office. Moreover, you can look his or her previous teachers and ask for their input on how they approach these students. This is also a good way for you to trace their background. It is also an opportunity to know them on the basis from the mouths of their former teachers. Tip 3: Understand and accept. No matter how disturbing some students may be in you class, always remember they are victims of circumstance. They have something in their past that influenced their behaviors now. Instead of yelling or disciplining the hard way, it would be better to understand and know the nature of such behavior. Appreciate the little things and made them realise that you

recognize them. Set small tasks for them and reward them positively. What these students need is understanding from a teacher. They need acceptance that they too can change, given the opportunity and the right impetus. As a teacher you have a responsibility place upon you, that is to influence and mold them to someone better. The teaching profession is very difficult yet noble. The students come every year to learn from us. And as an instructor, it would be preferable not only be there to impart lessons, but to teach them about life. If you happen to have disruptive students, follow these tips, and made them aware that they too can change.
