There are several members of staff in Kenelm: Mrs Barnes, Mr Bell, Miss S, Mrs Wells, Mrs Bowden, Mrs Furber-Smith (M), Mrs Simpson and Mrs Roberts. You will get to know us all very well.

Mrs Furber-Smith is our Day Matron and is here from 8.00am to 6.00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Wednesdays and Sundays are her days off, when we have Mrs Simpson (Wed) and Mrs Roberts (Sun) as our Day Matrons.

Matron’s job is to look after the practical aspects of you living here. For example, she will make you appointments at the Health Centre. She organises train tickets and taxis when you who need them, and will liaise with your parents about your travel arrangements for exeats and the end of term. Matron also checks to make sure that your rooms are tidy every day and she will help you with laundry if you need assistance.

When Mrs Barnes is off duty, and during her weekly day off, the House is run by the Assistant Housemaster, Mr Bell. The main House staff are also assisted by other teachers. Miss S is our Resident Tutor and she lives on the third floor.

Mrs Wells and Mrs Bowden are the Non-Resident Tutors. They are all on duty during various evenings each week, and there is a ‘staff-on-duty rota’ on the main noticeboard to let you know who is on duty and when.

Everyone is allocated a Tutor. Your Tutor will see you once a week and can come into the Boarding House and have lunch with you. They also will help you organise your school work and will answer any academic queries. They also meet regularly with Mrs Barnes to discuss your progress.
