The Sherborne Girls Future Ready Skills
The Sherborne Girls Future Ready Skills curriculum aims to give the girls the advanced learning skills that they will need to thrive in our globalised, knowledge-based world.
In today ’ s connected world, information is available almost instantly, but we recognise that our pupils need to develop the skills to understand, apply, analyse, and evaluate information, before using it to create and construct new knowledge. The Future Ready Skills curriculum is designed to help the girls develop and practise these skills. The course begins by focusing on the girls ’ digital literacy, ensuring that they are able to use the amazing connectivity, versatility and utility of their tablet devices and apps with confidence and discretion. The programme then goes on to focus for half a term on each of six key 21st Century Learning Skills, in the form of Knowledge Construction, Collaboration, Real-World Problem Solving, Skilled Communication and the Use of ICT for Learning. Throughout, the girls work on cross-curricular, selfdesigned and regulated projects which enable them to develop the skills that will help them to thrive in the world of their futures.
