CO-CURRICULAR TRIPS 2019 - 2020
OVERVIEW Dear Parents, I am delighted to publish the list of trips we are proposing to run over the next academic year, along with a few further trips planned for the following year. These trips aim to enhance and broaden our existing academic and co-curricular provision, giving the boys the opportunity to take their learning beyond the classroom. Facing new challenges, testing inner strengths, exploring new cultures and making new friends are only a handful of outcomes that can be achieved. We are very much aware, however, of the increased financial pressures on families and every trip will be planned to give the maximum educational value for money. None of the trips are compulsory, either for academic progress or for potential inclusion in sporting, musical or dramatic groups and it is important to stress that your son will not be disadvantaged if he does not participate. As far as possible, the costs are as close to the actual cost we can estimate at this current time. Given the existing economic climate, it is possible that there will be some changes, particularly for trips later in the year, but we will do all that we can to ensure that these are kept to a minimum. There are occasionally some bursaries which can be awarded on an individual basis. For details of these you should consult the Bursar. The aim of this document is to allow you to consider which trips may be of interest to your son and to enable you to tailor your plans accordingly. There will, of course, be further trips in 2020 - 2021 and beyond and we will be in touch at a similar point next academic year to publicise a fuller programme for these. As my colleagues start more detailed planning, they will initially write to those of you, whose sons they think may be most interested, giving an itinerary and a breakdown of the total costs. Should you wish your son to take part, please respond directly to the organising member of staff. If your son does not appear to fit into a particular trip group, but you feel that he may benefit from possible inclusion, then please contact the trip organiser directly. For general trip enquiries regarding trips and visits, please contact either Annette Gay, our Trips Administrator (Annette.gay@sherborne.org) or myself, using the contact details below.
