Three cheers for Lakpa Rita. “Congratulations to our brand ambassador Lakpa Rita Sherpa for safely summiting Everest for the 15th time on May 19th with the Alpine Ascents team! We are so glad to hear that everyone on the team is headed back to Base Camp safe and sound.” This cheerful post went up on our Facebook page on the joyous occasion of Lakpa Rita’s amazing 15th summit of Everest. This time, he led a team of six climbers from the U.S. to the top, breaking trail all the way from Camp 4 in hip-deep snow. It was his toughest Everest climb yet, but he looks forward to going again—and adding K2 as soon as the opportunity arises. Lakpa Rita has

already made history as the first Sherpa to climb the highest mountain on each of seven continents, and to us he stands for the very best in our tradition, while being the symbol of the modern Sherpa. Behind his smiling demeanor lies the brain of a supreme Sirdar. He is a tough and fair handler of people who will not brook any nonsense. Since the days of our first leaky rain jackets, which he tested without complaining, Lakpa Rita has never failed to guide us in the quest for outstanding gear. Lakpa Rita Sherpa, “Best Sirdar in

Our Quiet Hero.

I first met Pertemba Sherpa 32 years ago at a Losar celebration in midtown Manhattan. Happy to see a face from my village, I called him Achu, “elder brother”. Instantly vivacious and humble, he brushed off his heroic summit from the impossible South West face of Mt. Everest in 1975. Yet he was aware of what he had accomplished at the raw age of 27, as Head Sirdar of the first successful attempt at the world’s highest and steepest route. Pertemba climbed Everest two more times after that, and led a successful trekking business for more than 30 years, personally guiding such luminaries as His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. Today, he still carries a dignified silhouette in his native Khumjung, helping to build schools and bring teachers to remote Rolwaling. He has even given his childhood home to the Sherpa Heritage Museum. As for his personal legacy, the deep respect granted by young Sherpa climbers who make way when he enters a room— that is enough. In founding Sherpa Adventure Gear, I was determined to keep our unsung heroes from disappearing into myth. As we follow Pertemba Dai, I know we’re on the right path.

warranty Sherpa Adventure Gear takes great pride in the quality of its products. Our goal is to make superior gear that honors the legendary Sherpas who have built their reputation on being the toughest high-altitude climbers in the world. We have used their experience and input to make products that are truly outstanding.

Products returned under warranty must be sent directly to Sherpa Adventure Gear Quality Assurance Department: Oakesdale, Commerce Center, Building W6, Suite D, 810 SW 34th Street, Renton, WA 98057. All shipments must be prepaid and insured. Sherpa Adventure Gear will not be liable for packages lost in transit.

Our products are fully warranted against defects in materials and workmanship. If for any reason a product should fail in its function due to a manufacturing defect, we will repair or replace the product at our discretion. Damages caused by accident, negligence, normal wear and tear or the natural deterioration of colors and materials over an extended period are not covered by this warranty. If the original owner wishes to have his product repaired for damages not covered by the warranty, we will do so for a reasonable fee if such repair is possible. Shipping costs will be charged. Our warranty only extends to the original owner of the product.
