The ames horticulture research station is a space that is reserved for research conduction and experimentation. The site is lush with vegetation and a large lake at the center. The project’s inspiration is the vegetation, in this case, an onion. The feathered membrane and ringed structure of the onion is what gave rise to the final design. su The research-based study space is designed to provide sufficient space for research conduction, storage, and study. The outer membrane is curved like the shell of an onion, to allow vegetation to creep onto the building. This makes the structure feel more incorporated into the landscape. The southern facade consists of PTFE windows that are transparent, translucent and opaque with respect to the program that it hides. The structure is located close to the water but alway from the flood zones or marshy lands.

HISTORY

MUSEUM

Venice consists of architecture that is situated over a water body. This water body acts as the main source of transportation, sewage, and culture. The ideal inspiration for this project is the presence of water in Venice and the caustic patterns formed light rays that reflect off of the curved translucent surface of the water. These patterns require a stable light source and an unstable reflective surface; the project’s design likewise, consists of an existing host structure and a water body. The museum incorporates the use of water as a means of relationship to the city. The interior of the structure is brought to life with the movement of the water body over its roof structure. The museum serves as a propaganda figure that solves three main issues that Venice faces; floods, excessive tourists and sewage. The interior and exterior of the museum reflects the excellence of the city.

THE CHOSEN SITE IS AT THE CENTRAL BAY OF THE ARSENALE, VENICE.
