REEL TECHNOLOGY MICROCOMPUTER COILS MAGNET
The redesigned Magnumlite Rotor delivers ultra light, almost friction free rotation, enabling you to control the retrieve with ultimate precision and sensitivity. Lures become even more animated when using a MGL Rotor reel, and the ultra light experience lets you feel every movement of the lure, the bottom and ultimately the strike of the fish, no matter how slight it is.
PERFECT CASTS, ANYTIME AND EVERY SITUATION Shimano’s new Digital Control braking system utilises a microcomputer to monitor spool speed 1,000 times every second and apply the perfect amount of brake to prevent backlash and maximise distance. Anglers of every skill level will appreciate less thumbing and trouble-free casting in all conditions.
Hagane is the concept of power. By using a cold forging technique, we produced a class-leading drive gear that is stronger and more durable. With the gear teeth super-refined to the limit, the “MicroModule Gear System” enables seamless engagement and power transmission. The System, without compromising strength, reduces noise and provides far better sensitivity. X-Ship stands for Extra, Smooth and Hi-Power X. By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with SA-RB bearings (on Stella models) and introducing a bigger drive gear, Shimano increased gearing efficiency and higher power. This results in a fishing reel with ultra-light handle rotation for less effort, even under heavy loads. This increases the efficiency of the reel, meaning it will stay smoother and perform at its peak for much longer. The Hagane Body is a metal reel body with high rigidity. The body stiffness and impact resistance virtually eliminates body flexing. The result transforms the angler’s actions directly into cranking power. The concept of CoreProtect is simple... to provide water resistance without creating a heavy rotation feeling. There are three key areas of the reel that require protection: the roller clutch, the body and the line roller. G Free Body technology has been developed to shift the reel’s centre of gravity closer to the rod. This has been achieved by moving the worm shaft oscillation mechanism 19mm up from the bottom of the reel to the top. By moving the centre of gravity closer to the angler’s hand position, the G Free Body helps to reduce fatigue and enhances casting comfort.
State-of-the-art, gear tooth surface design and MicroModule II, are further advanced through Shimano’s exclusive manufacturing technology. The surfaces of the drive gear and pinion gear have been analysed and updated from the ground up in pursuit of perfection. Starting from an already industry leading standard, reduced reel noise and even smoother gear feeling has been realised.
By placing sealing gaskets in 12 critical locations throughout the rigid aluminium body, we are able to create a water resistant structure that can hold up against the toughest conditions and fish that Mother Nature has to offer. Incorporating large diameter drag washers at the base of the spool provides greater drag stability. The result is smooth and consistent drag performance throughout the fight. The Coil Wave Spring features steady elasticity at any compression level, and little deformation under repeated compression. This results in precise drag adjustments throughout the curve, giving the angler more control at high drag pressure. Through tens of thousands of casting tests and computer simulations, it has been determined that the AR-C spool lip design produces longer casting distances than a standard spool lip, while preventing backlashes and wind knots from forming. It also allows the line to flow off the spool in smaller loops during the cast, which means less slap on the stripper guide. This results in longer casts with less friction. A spool designed with a V-shape spool lip ensures the line comes off the reel in smaller loops, for longer, more accurate casting.

UPGRADED DRAG WITH HEAT RESISTANCE The current X-Tough Drag’s epoch-making structure, in which the drag mechanism is positioned at the lower part of the spool, has delivered overwhelming drag performance and improved durability. But the new Stella SW employs a more advanced ‘Heat Sink Drag’, which stands up much better to heat. The ‘Heat Sink Panel’, where the heat generated by drag is released, stops any decrease in drag performance, due to thermal sagging, by around 50 per cent. The ‘Insulation Sheet’, which blocks heat transfer to the spool, prevents spool temperatures from increasing by around 30 per cent. The evolution of the new drag system is easier on the line and more stable than ever.
IPX8 WATERPROOF PERFORMANCE X-Protect is a water resistant technology. The aim was to create a water repellent technology that didnt impede rotation or lightness. The technologycombines water repellent treatments and a labrinth type structure to supress the entry of water, achieveing a high level of waterproofing performance despite non-contact.
LIGHT AND POWERFUL WINDING The current X-Ship system provides light and powerful winding, by supporting both ends of the pinion gear with bearings. The new Stella SW employs an even more advanced system, called ‘Infinity Drive’. With the new system, the pinion gear inner does not make contact with the main shaft, as high-sliding bushing supports the main shaft. With this new structure, sliding resistance of the main shaft is drastically reduced. In addition to this, a special skidding coating on the main shaft helps to further reduce sliding resistance. InfinityDrive cuts handle rotation torque by about 30 per cent in comparison to the conventional system, and makes the reel more powerful. This enables anglers to wind more aggressively, even under heavy load.
SILENT ON THE WIND From the basic body design through to the most intricate parts of the drive train including the drive gear, worm shaft, worm shaft pin and worm shaft gear, every piece has been carefully reviewed. Consequently, the smallest clearance gaps and wobbles have been eliminated to the highest tolerances. As a result, a new generation of silky smooth winding performance and pristine silence has been achieved.

Instant Drag allows the drag to be switched from free spool to a ‘fight’ setting by tightening the drag with a couple turns.
We have upgraded our light-weight carbon material Ci4. Keeping it light weight, rigidity and durability of the material under fishing conditions is highly improved. From this characteristic, we were able to reduce the volume and weight of the rotor and the body. The Shimano Stable Spool Design technology features balanced and uniform thin wall aluminium construction throughout the spool. This precision significantly reduces spool vibration and creates an incredibly smooth feeling when casting and retrieving.

Super slow oscillation where the line is wound up about 100 revolutions with one spool reciprocation. It reduces the release resistance at the time of casting and leads to an increase in distance. SVS Infinity provides 4-6 settings and an adjustable brake dial to provide a much wider and more precise range for maximum control and consistent brake performance in all conditions.
This audible and highly exciting sound, which occurs when a fish runs, is a modern alternative to the more traditional mechanical clicker or ratchet.
Compact body design to reduce weight and allow for better grip and leverage while fighting a fish.
Shimano’s proprietaty GigaMax Motor system in it’s latest power assissted reels provide a more robust and powerful electric reel when prospecting deepwater environments.
Fine Dot LCD is a feature used on electric reels for ease of use to the angler to be far more accurate with readings.
Control function to suppress abnormal heat generation of the drag part to maintain stable drag performance. If the drag slips while the motor of the electric reel is on, the gear will idle and cause an abnormal heat generation in the drag portion. In order to reduce this heat generation, when the drag is slipping, the motor speed is automatically reduced. Rigid Support Drag eliminates spool movement and wobble, even at light drag settings. The result is an incredibly smooth drag even at extremely light settings. Shielded Anti-Rust Bearings are similar to A-RB, but feature additional shields for the ultimate in protection
Anti-Rust Bearings possess extreme durability, at least 10 times the corrosion resistance of standard stainless steel bearings. One Piece Bail allows the line to travel unimpeded to the line roller. Its seamless design reduces friction and the chance of tangles or cuts to the bail arm.
Eliminates friction on the spool shaft for increased free spool. The result is a longer cast requiring less effort.
Variable Brake System uses weights to slow down the spool’s rotation. This provides the angler with more consistent spool speed, as well as easier line management during the cast.
This drag material provides a wider range of drag settings, for the smoothest Shimano drag performance ever.
Compact Body is designed for reduced weight and improved function, giving far more leverage when fighting a fish.
Fine tuning of the Baitrunner Spool functionality. Both the small drag setting and the big free spool knob now work independently of each other. Improved, more user-friendly handling is the result.
This shifting mechanism is designed so that gear changes are quick and easy, even when fighting a fish. The low gear ratio used for high-power retrieves is selected by pushing the button on the base of the handle. Return to the high-speed ratio by sliding the release button along the handle shank. There is no gear meshing during the shift. With this feature the spool is aligned parallel to the rod, minimising the rubbing between the rod and the line, while increasing casting distance. By utilising a special drag washer, the drag can be adjusted from the minimum to maximum range with one complete turn of the drag knob.
For easy and fast one handed casts, the line and trigger self center and are within easy grasp of the anglers index finger.

THIS ROD RANGE HAS BEEN DEVELOPED TO COVER A LARGE RANGE OF FISHING APPLICATIONS, COVERING ANYTHING FROM SOFTBAIT FISHING, THROUGH TO EGING FOR SQUID. The Salty Advance rods utilise Shimano’s responsive carbon blanks, giving them excellent sensitivity and feel, whilst also being robust. The design brief for the boat series was to have fast action blank, with high quality components, for casting and fishing baits on either braid or mono. This was created using the ultra-strong T45 construction method and high quality Fuji components. The X AR-C System combines the ground-breaking AR-C Propulsion Weight Transfer System with the AR-C Shell Body Design. The AR-C Body uses a foam resin material that naturally floats. X Tough Cross incorporates a tight weave construction, which improves overall linear strength and knot strength. Another advantage is that it lowers elongation and heightens sensitivity, making it perfect for high-end fishing. Kyorin offers an unparralleled lifelike scale pattern finish to our lures that is guaranteed to fool fish.
Spectra is recognised as the premium braided fishing line fibre. Spectra lasts twice as long in abrasion testing as comparable material.

This unique system adopts a moving spring weight. At the moment of the cast, it slides to the back of the lure, creating centrifugal force. This accelerates the lure, and during flight it stays straighter and is more direct, resulting in on average a 20% improvement in casting distance as well as higher accuracy. Upon landing, the spring shifts the weight forward and the lure regains its balance and action.
A primary benefit of using polyurethane coatings is the protection it provides the surface. It creates what is essentially an impermeable barrier between the elements and the object it’s covering.
Fibre is weaved evenly at all angles, resulting in a smoother finish, reduced diameter, and ultimately a longer cast by the angler.
