Make an impact with your content Why? You have a short time to make a big impression so what you say in your company description is critical.

Here’s some things to look for: Make sure you summarise what you do and sell in the first couple of sentences as we only use the first 25 words or so of your profile as a “snippet” in the search results page.

Describe your company and products in terms that buyers are searching for and use words and phrases your buyers are using most frequently Try doing sample searches in Pages to see what comes up Thoroughly check spelling and grammar Avoid clichés. “A leading manufacturer/distributor in Country A”. “Second to none reputation”. “Fantastic customer service”

Think about what you would say in an elevator sales pitch and whether this matches what has been written in your profile Length. You can write quite a lot in your Premium Profile so using just 3 sentences is not making the most of the opportunity Benchmark against your competition. Are they in search results? If so, how are they describing their business?

Cover all your ‘keywords’ What are keywords? Keywords being all the things you sell. A really important ranking factor is the categories you select on your profile.

Why? To judge relevancy, the ranking algorithm looks for the number of times it finds keyword matches across your profile – i.e. 5 matches would be ranked higher than just 1.

With a Premium Profile you can select an unlimited number of categories. Every single extra category you select means you get ranked more often so choose as many as are relevant – the more the better. Select as many sub-categories as are applicable. Don’t rely on the fact you have selected the top-level, parent category. When it comes to the number of matches it’s not just the categories you have selected. Upload keyword rich data sheets, brochures, and your catalogue. They are all searched and they all count.
