We offer free shipping and returns on orders over $200. for orders under $200 a flat rate of $25 applies. the quickest courier service takes at least 3 days. all parcels require a signature on receipt. We need both daytime and evening phone numbers and email so the courier can contact you directly if there is a delivery problem. We cannot deliver to pO boxes or take “leave on step” instructions - so we prefer to deliver to your work address.

you can return unworn/unscuffed goods for exchange or refund within 14 days of receipt. please try your shoes on carpet. please do not walk outside or on hard surfaces that scuff the sole. We cannot accept back scuffed or damaged items.

SIzING & OrdErING

When ordering online, order your correct uk size by referring to the shoe conversion chart which is specific to each shoe.

When ordering by telephone - please tell us your normal uSa size.

as a rule our shoes are all the equivalent of the uS "D" width.

When you get your shoes, they will be marked in the uk size, don't let that confuse you - please try them on!

Î please try your shoes on carpet to avoid scratching or scuffing the sole - in case they need to be returned.

Î please allow 1-3 weeks for delivery of shoes. We will keep you informed as to the progress of your order. Slippers take up to 12 weeks to make.

• it takes 8 weeks and 200 separate hand operations to make our goodyear welted shoes.

• Starting at the 'clickers' bench each piece of leather is hand-cut using a metal template as a guide.

• each piece of leather is sewn together to form the upper and lining and pulled over the 'last'.

• the goodyear welt, a separate piece of leather, is then sewn through the upper to the insole.

• the space beneath the insole is filled with a soft cork cushion before a 'shank' is fixed between the forepart of the shoe and the heel to make sure the finished shoe is flexible, but properly supported.

• finally the sole is stitched to the welt before the assembled shoe is hand polished and burnished.

Look for the logos below to find which goodyear welted shoes are made for us by Crockett & jones and joseph Cheaney.

Blake stitching is a less expensive and less time-consuming method of shoe-making. the process is very much the same as described above for goodyear welting, however, the upper and sole are stitched directly together without the additional welt.

goodyear welted shoes may be more expensive, however, this method of construction makes them far more durable. in addition to this, on the assumption they are looked after, and are properly repaired when required, they can be resoled again and again to very little detriment of the shoe.
