How to read the Benchmark Matrix

The MARKYT® Benchmark Matrix(shown in detail overleaf) illustrates how the community rates performance on individual measures, compared to how other councils are being rated by their communities. There are two dimensions. The vertical axis maps community perceptions of performance for individual measures. The horizontal axis maps performance relative to the MARKYT® Industry Standards.

Councils aim to be on the right side of this line, with performance ABOVE the MARKYT® Industry Average.

Services are grouped in five areas:

⚫ People

⚫ Planet

⚫ Place

⚫ Prosperity

⚫ Performance

This line represents okay performance based on the MARKYT Performance Index Score. Higher performing service areas are placed above this line while lower performing areas are below it.
