REFLECTION #6 September 22-26, 2014 I have now been in practice for six weeks On Monday and Tuesday, my class was a continuation of my student’s Puerto Rico Magazine form Unit 3.1. . I had to modify my last week’s lesson plan because there were two days there was no class. On Wednesday because my student’s teacher was not coming, and on Thursday because our Cooperating Teacher could not make it. On Friday I handed the students their grades for their first test. Then, I discussed a homework I had given the week before about the definition of immigration. I write the definition on the board so everyone could have the same one, and also students came up to the front to read their definition. At the end of the class I introduced the students to a new song about the five W’s Questions and told the students to learn their definitions in Spanish. I also gave them homework with the intention to prepare them for Next week’s discussion on push and pull factors. I felt this week passed by so fast. I felt I didn’t have time to cover much. On Friday, I went through the topic of immigration rather fast I would say. After I gave my class I felt that I needed to give more examples. I did not like my class at all and I never want to experience a moment were I did not like the way I gave my own class. I felt that I let myself down and my students down. After six weeks, you’d think I already have this down pack, and I was getting the hang of it, but Friday was my exception, As I’ve mentioned before in my prior reflection, I don’t like the immigration Unit too much, but this week I will do my best to create fun activities for my students to motivate them
and even motivate myself to teach it with joy. I will have high expectancy of my students and I hope I can meet each and one of my objectives.
