REFLECTION #8 October 6-10, 2014 I woke up very sick this week. I had the Chikungunya virus the entire week and it is the worst thing I’ve ever had in my life. My whole family had it at home since last week, so I took preventive measures and bathed myself in Off spray and sprayed Raid in my house. It did not work, last Friday I woke up with the symptoms. I had a lot of fever and an unbearable pain in my entire body, therefore I could not present myself in my practice center. I could not even catch up with any work because of the symptoms. After I thought I was getting a little better, I had a rash appear all over my body that itched a lot. I had to take Benadryl which makes me very drowsy and again I could not complete my work. By the end of the week, I still had the Virus so I did not go to the school, but I did call my peers to know what happened in the classroom. Throughout the week, I also communicated with my cooperating teacher and told her to follow the lesson plan from last week because it was not possible to carry out last week. Only Monday and Tuesday was followed last week because there was no class from Wednesday till Friday. Friday’s lesson plan was extended the remaining two days of this week because it was about reading the story and asking comprehension questions. I wasn’t happy that I had to miss a week of practice teaching because I knew I’d fall behind on my work but I’m glad my students did not fall behind the week I was absent and I’m grateful that my cooperating teacher and practice teacher peers also helped. Even Luis gave one of my classes so he was able to put me up to date as well. My students already read the story I

was going to give them, so for next week I will start diving in to the parts of the story and check their comprehension of the story too.
