Hon'ble Prime Minister, as part of the commemorative celebration of the 75th anniversary of our independence, envisioned protecting traditional water bodies for ensuring the water security of cities by involving youth and the community. Bearing this vision in mind, the Government of India has launched the 'Mission Amrit Sarovar-Jal Dharohar Sanrakshan’ Internship Program.
In order to realize the vision of the Hon'ble PM, MoHUA has mapped a few culturally and historically significant water bodies suggested by the States and proposes to tag them. The team of 15 students including me visited Ghori Baori, Alanpur, Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, and documented the following:
1. History and spatial-temporal analyses
2. Hydrological studies, conservation of catchment areas
3. Preparing maps of the water body and its surroundings
4. Taking photographs that capture the essence of the water body
5. Reimagining the areas as a vibrant public space
6. Action plan for rejuvenation of the water body
