The NomaDOME
The NomaDOME:
Project Brief:
Educational center for 20 -25 individuals divided on basis of age groups into respective time shifts.
Design brief:
The structure is a make- shift deployable settlement consisting of a singular dome divided into a learning space and an open theatre.
The Elevation:
The DETAILS
The Caterpillar The Caterpillar:
It is a public intervention that is a set of seating that could be brought together and separated as the public space demanded. It serves as a relief point in the mound areas of Sabarmati Riverfront Park.
Project Brief: Public intervention of any required scale, land occupancy and function was to be ideated. The brief was to be set as the site demanded. Design brief The structure is a make- shift deployable settlement consisting of a modular mild steel seating components
The Storyteller
The site was the Amul interpretation Centre in Anand. It serves the visitors to the Amul campus a rich history of The birth and growth of Amul. The deign brief was to re design the interpretation centre to make it reach out to a large spectrum of people. The central tree is standing as a representation of Amul as a brand- Simple, ever evolving, rooted. The tree is central looked upon from each space. The adjacent sketch is the idea and the concept.
Diagrammatic interpretation of the concept
Extroversion due to expansion horizontally
Progression along the corners gives rise to the Central
Courtyard
Chunk of landscape Unifies the scattered units .
The existing site has museum building in the water-body As an added intervention, the waterbody is replaced by a
unified landscape.
This not only de- isolates the museum but also joins the silos and The Kurien Memorial to the Museum building ; while still maintaining its emphasis
Perspective Sketches

The Fluid Volumes
The Brief The studio focused on visualization and hence representation was a very core in the program. The site being the Gujarat University library by B. V. Doshi, was expected to be intervened to make Eat, Sleep, Work, Play activities function. The poster shows a multiple of book racks controverting the rigidity as an essence in the library.
For this studio, a reference was drawn from the Ramayana miniatures. What inspired the large representational design drawing for the Gujarat University Library project was the cascading events divided by time in a single drawing. The representational drawing is pen and ink rendering on beige sheet depicting THE OLD POSTCARD as theme corresponding to old library building.
3D view and photo collage of the fluid bookracks
Photo montages and 3D views of existing spaces juxtaposed under the intervened elements.
Photographic analysis of overcrowding in old city
Adaptive reuse The mortar voids get filled in by the bolts which then behave as hangers for the storage/ display
EXPANSION The niche by the shop is used for extra storage
Concealing Inevitable cut through of the staircase picked up from the display alcove
Levelled stacking The central display leaves just the optimum BUFFER SPACE IN THE TIGHT SHOP AND ACTS AS AN HIGHLIGHTING CENTRAL ELEMENT
Expansion as a solution The table functions as a cantilevered surface used as seating and the display/ storage
OVERCROWDING The uncompartmentalized display of shoes create overcrowding in spite of large area.
The Motibaug Art gallery
The Brief The site assigned was a residential building converted to an art gallery. Refurbishing, renovating , re-designing was the project. Since, the site assigned was thrice the original site, functionality was initial concern. The purpose was to not only serve functionality but also to all kinds of visitors including differently able. The given site had rigid structural elements which ideally should remain unaltered. Also, the northern facade was to be retained and respected.
Design brief :
The connectivity of spaces was topic mainly looked upon besides functionality. Hence, the ‘functional connections’ shaped the project. Retaining the facade, the theme had to be chosen complementing it, if not the same. The ‘visually rustic’ material elements as pallet was chosen. The rustic pallet reflected the colonial like style architecture of present site..

Ancillary History of Objects
Objective:
The course was to explore an evolved object of daily use, trace back the existentialism of it and contemplate the present object through its evolution.
Padukah – a footwear is taken as a topic of research and has been extracted as a part of this course
Tile making
Saahj is Urdu for ornamentation is symbolises the modern function of footwear. The kum- kum like the Padukah has come along in time and its represented so.

Decoding: Poetics of Space Poetics of Space is a book by Gaston Bachelard.
The studio explores each chapter in the book as an exercise and intends come up with space that’s one’s own shell.
Tile making
As an assigned topography of arid lands, the objective was to bring out the oneiric feeling of one’s own shell as an incentive. The frame holds an interpretation of a void in arid lands divided starkly between day and night. The placed object represents anyone in the void.
This assignment required to document one room house. The optimization of each surface as manifested by the lack of the spaces itself, makes one wonder of responsible usage of each design insert.
