FROM THE DEAN OF STUDENTS
Dear Students,
February saw the campus abuzz with clubs and societies showcasing their talent and passion, and numerous innovative TVL ventures by enthusiastic students The winter chill was dispersed by a vibrant Breeze, with lots of activity, peppy music and fun for everyone Some of you took ‘Spirits’ to new highs, and re-defined Coke, but we took in our stride It was heartening to hear many of you say this was the ‘Best Breeze’ you have seen Everyone felt safe and included, and Breeze 2024 exemplified Safe ‘Njoyment Unlimited as the culture of SNU Heartfelt compliments and kudos to Team Breeze and all of us who took the lead in ensuring that things remained that way all through. Spring is in the air! The days are getting warmer and flowers planted around campus in the winter months are in full bloom. Mother Nature reminds us that this the time of renewal, of hope and new beginnings. Just as the gardeners plant tiny green seedlings knowing that, in time, they will grow into beautiful beds of colour, each of us can look ahead, see the person we would like to become, and start ‘planting’ choices and tiny actions every day that will grow into habits and the character that will define us going forward
As a thought experiment, pick one thing you feel you want to improve or change in yourself Flesh it out a bit, by telling yourself how that change will enhance you and give you fulfilment Like the gardener planning their garden, visualise how this change will fit with the other ‘plants’ in you, and the steps needed to ‘plant’ and nurture them into bloom Create the conditions for your ‘plants’ to take root, grow, thrive and bloom It could be something as simple as getting to sleep half an hour or an hour earlier, setting aside certain evenings or mornings to devote to something you’d like to do but are not being able to, or deciding that you are going to start each meal with raw salad. Done consistently, small, intentional changes compound into significant and lasting outcomes.
With the Mid-Sems behind you, and flowers all around you, take the cue and invest in You BRIGADIER STEVE ISMAIL
