There is a change in the air, with the monsoon receding after a last deluge of heavy rain The days are getting just a bit cooler, and the trees and bushes on campus are lush with leaves and verdant green.
The month kicked off with the second edition of the Shiv Nadar University 10K Challenge, flagged off in the early hours of 2 nd September by our Chancellor, Mr Shikhar Malhotra. Over 150 participants, including over 50 students and staff from the University, pepped up with an energetic Zumba warm up, enthusiastically took part in the 5K Walk, 5K Run and 10K Run It was a humid morning, not the most conducive for strenuous activity, and we are considering shifting this run to a better time of year for the next edition.
Freshers’ Night was celebrated in true SNU style on campus, full of the ebullience and energy of ‘Youngistan’ Imaginative décor to the theme of ‘Candyland’, and a lively DJ transformed the evening into a memorable occasion. My compliments to our Cultural Secretary, Devansh Asthana and all members of the Cultural Committee, who planned this event meticulously and pulled it off successfully, disregarding the pessimistic weather forecast for that evening!
If Freshers’ Night was a grand finale to Freshers’ Week, the Club Fair before it, at the end of August, was a worthy warm up event. Unlike previous years, this year clubs were asked to postpone recruitments till after the Club Fair By this time the Freshers’ have a much better sense of all that is on offer, as well as the time and effort they need to devote to their academics and other activities.
During the semester break, we were able to send the gym coach, Mr Parminder Singh, and sports staff Ms Priyanka, to attend a rock climbing course at Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi Kudos to the Adventure Club and Sports Department for re-activating our indoor sport climbing wall, under the supervision of our newly qualified instructors.
We remain committed to keeping our campus, and all members of our community at Shiv Nadar safe and secure There have been a few instances in the past month, where some students have indulged in acts that blatantly disregard the Code of Conduct and go against our values. In such cases, we are committed to taking strict action, which places a heavy burden not only on the students involved, but unfortunately on their families as well.
I urge all of you to invest in your future and the wellbeing and dignity of your loved ones, by refraining from acts that lead to severe consequences Continue to be kind and generous to each other, act responsibly, and stay safe

FETCH Know Your Campus?
of Friendicoes, an NGO. Dogs are medicated and treated for wounds and other issues by the FETCH team. In September, the team organized 40+ vaccinations, 6 sterilizations and sent two dogs – Lily and Dobby – for treatment outside campus. This month, FETCH held a discussion with the faculty to understand their concerns surrounding dog interactions on campus. We invited Ms Kunalika, a professional from Friendicoes to lead this discussion and provide solutions we, as a university, could explore. Following feedback from this session, we understood that children struggle with dog interactions – a major concern of faculty. In response to this, we organized three dog familiarization sessions with students from Lakeview School. Through these sessions, students aged 3-5 years learnt when and how to approach dogs through fun activities and safe interactions with our campus dogs, culminating in an award ceremony with Brig Steve Ismail. We would like to remind everyone about our ongoing No Feeding Policy for campus dogs. Our campus dogs receive balanced, nutritious meals twice daily, which adequately meet their dietary needs. Offering extra food can create unhealthy dependencies and lead to uncomfortable interactions between dogs and humans. We request you to keep this rule in mind as your cooperation ensures a safer and more comfortable campus environment for everyone.
