Shiv Nadar University was established in 2011 by Mr. Shiv Nadar, one of Asia’s foremost philanthropists and a pioneer of the technological revolution in India. He is the Founder of HCL Tech, a $12.8 billion global organization with 223,438 professionals operating from 60 countries.
Mr. Nadar’s philanthropic initiative, the Shiv Nadar Foundation set up in 1994, has so far invested close to $1 billion across institutions and initiatives spanning the entire spectrum of education and art, making it one of India’s largest philanthropic foundations.

Foregrounding research and innovation
Research in its broadest sense, is the fundamental pillar of the academic mission of Shiv Nadar University. We believe strongly that the university must be a center for the discovery and creation of new forms of knowledge and expression, going beyond the dissemination of existing knowledge. The university has established a robust ecosystem of research anchored in excellent research infrastructure rare for private universities in the Global South.
Trailblazing undergraduate education
Shiv Nadar University was the first to launch a 4-year multidisciplinary research degree in India. The degree is a trailblazer on many counts. The multidisciplinary nature of the degree allows Shiv Nadar graduates to gain both breadth and depth in their undergraduate education. Combined with co-curriculars, extra-curriculars, athletics and proximity to nature – Shiv Nadar students flourish intellectually and emotionally. Our undergraduates routinely receive offers of direct admission and funding for Ph.D. programs in top universities of the world. As well, our alumni can be found in many of the top global corporations.
Career development
The Career Development Center (CDC) at Shiv Nadar University supports students in shaping their career. The Center provides services such as academic advising and career coaching that inspires students to discover their strength, gain confidence and develop their career plan from the day they start the university. The results are seen in the success of our students in finding coveted jobs in leading organizations (public and private), study in top universities or become entrepreneurs.

Shiv Nadar University, Delhi NCR is a fully residential institution with well-equipped laboratories, smart classrooms, and a state-of-the-art library. In its pleasant surroundings, students from across India and abroad share their experiences and values, and gain an understanding of different cultures. Students engage in activities beyond the classroom in team-based projects. They form clubs and societies, organize festivals and events, participate in university administration, take up social projects around the campus, and pursue sports and hobbies. There are currently over 50 vibrant student societies, ranging from the curriculum related Robotics Club - Roboyantriki to the Photography Society - Visually SNU, which periodically conduct events, talks, and competitions to actively engage students not only from Shiv Nadar University but also from different parts of the country.
