Dear Class of 2024,
Before you turn the page, pause for a second. Breathe. You’re here, and you’ve made it.
The start of our college life wasn’t exactly conventional. What was supposed to be the most exciting time of our lives was encompassed in a tiny screen, with online orientations, classes, and friendships. Even our initial offline journey was minted with masks, 6-feet-distances and quarantine. However, we managed to make the most of our time here. We came here looking for independence and found lasting connections, memories, heartbreaks, failures, successes, and, most of all, an experience that we’ll keep with us forever.
This yearbook is just a tiny attempt at collecting all our stories, hoping that when you look back at it someday, you will be transported to Navin’s, sipping hot chai, to the Breeze main arena, on top of the Ferris wheel, to early morning chole bhature at the DH with your friends - to a time where maintaining 75% attendance was the biggest challenge in your life.
As you walk up on the stage to get your degree and throw your hat in the air, we hope you’re incredibly proud of the person you’ve become and all that you’ve survived through during your time at SNIoE SNU.
So, Class of 2024, thank you for everything. Needless to say, it’s been a good run.
All our love, Yearbook Team 2024

"From managing placements to organizing fests, my journey at Shiv Nadar University was a rollercoaster ride! Remembering the rush of adrenaline during fest days and the thrill of helping CDC employees to seal placements ? But amidst the chaos, it was the moments at CnD, AnB and SARC that felt like home - where chai from Naveen Bhaiya fueled our dreams and the diverse food joints brought us together.
Two years spent at home was a rough start, but it made the next 2 years even more fun. Even COVID19 couldn't stop us from strengthening our friendship as we made virtual chats into cherished memories. Whether it was late-night study sessions or discord talk shows, every moment was a treasure.
As we bid farewell to our college days, let's carry these memories with us - the laughter, the tears, and the unwavering support. Here's to the everlasting bonds forged in the halls of Shiv Nadar University, where friendships transcend time and distance. Cheers to us, the unstoppable SKS squad!"
Beyond the Classroom -Guneet Kochar
Wrinkles Of Love -Shruti Kohli
In a home where love and pain do dwell, Two souls together, in their story to tell. Dadi, weakened by surgery's rough fight, Suffers in pain, both day and night.
No more can she work, her hands are sore, Once full of energy, now they ache even more. She longs to cook, her old role's grace, But her body's rebellion has taken its place.
Dadu, a bright mind with stories to share, Yearns for someone's company, with love and care. Restless, he asks for help, in his own way, But Dadi’s strength has dwindled day by day.
Oh, the struggle of this fractured pair, One seeks aid, unaware of the despair. Dadu's anger flares, an unwelcome sight, His words are harsh, causing strife. His hands, misguided, strike with force, A painful act, veering off love's course.
At eighty-five, his mindset remains, A sad refrain, respect he disdains.
In this dance of fate, so filled with sorrow, A love once bright, now faces tomorrow. But beneath the scars and their endless fight, Lies a bond that no time can smite.
Let compassion guide them through the night, Heal their wounds, bring back the light. May Dadi's pain find gentle ease, Her needs met; her burdens appease.
And Dadu, may your heart find calm, In unspoken words, a soothing balm. For love's enduring strength, let it prevail, Mend the cracks and let harmony sail.
In this tapestry of joy and strife, May understanding be the thread of life. In the twilight of their years so grey, May love's sweet song light their way.

By Madhav MehtaEver Since I joined this prestigious institute, I always wanted to be a part of the music society. While joining online, I always participated in collaborations that involved various freshers. When we shifted to the offline setting, I used to partake in the weekly informal jams, which ultimately led me to be part of the extended core. Had it not been the opportunities that the college provided, I would never have grown as a person, and as a member of this club. Becoming a part of extended core, then the Associate Secretary and then the Secretary of the club proved to be one of the best moments of my life. Never had I imagined that I’d be leading a team of over 70 members! Throughout my time in Snuphoria, we organised various events ranging from Canopy Jams, Call It What You Want, Impromptune, Encore, Breeze performances, Bollywood Night and so on!
Apart from being the Secretary of Snuphoria, I have been an avid Drummer since I was 11 years old. Having completed all 8 Grades of Trinity Rock & Pop of Drums with Distinction, I have performed in various cafes and venues such as The Piano Man Jazz Cafe Delhi, Depot 48 and Sofar Sounds in Noida. On top of that, I have recorded drums for Several Tracks which include Gum Gaye by Anchit Bhaiya, Jag Jaage by Chirag Todi and so on.
My two cents to everyone here would be to take chances. You never know how awesome it would be unless you try. Take risks, enjoy rewards.

Weightless, anchorless drifting through a dark blue void,
If there is light here, it does not show itself to me.
I try to release myself from the preconceived notions that bound my feet
But I cannot help myself, I terribly miss gravity.
Vanya NautiyalThere is nothing here to thrill a hollow heart, Not a single respectable space rock, broken from an asteroid. Not a single shiny piece of scientific debris, like a defunct satelite, Not a single trace of the decadence of humanity, except I.
But if you were here, the stars would come out slow
The planets would once again begin their redundant rounds
If only to show you the beauty of their better faces
Which lie unmarked by meteors that fly into their arms out of bounds.
If you were here, we'd first dance a funny little jig, Singing nonsensical songs, laughing ourselves sick , Then we'd play at being less immature, I'd put my hand at your waist,
And we'd sway ever so gently, under the moon's indulgent gaze
There's a disaster waiting to happen here, or a miracle to be found,
A black hole could emerge right under our clumsy feet, eating away all light, all sound,
But I care nothing of the universe's peculiar vastness or its vast peculiarities, Until there are still songs to dance to and your arms to get lost in, I have nowhere else to be.

My Comapanion
I walk towards the glazed azure eyes, crunching of the withered leaves, with the soft whistling of the breeze, my heart races as she sees, I struggle to subdue the ferment inside, the stirring thoughts and the tide of my flashbulb memories—, nothing stays the same.
Wearing the Claddagh is my Ladybird, the perfect details of her crimson dress, and the scent of the Perfect Peony with an airy blend of its delicately floral fragrance around, as she glides through the room with the rhythm of the harp.
The lover in me enlivened, though afraid, but every restraint has now been allayed.
In the streets of Galway, I hear her name in the sound of wind chimes, and the music of rain, like the morning dew, on my lips, a swain.
With a smile so radiant, the energy that surrounds her is valiant, always ready for giving a helping hand, you are ethereal, O my Love!
A rose in the desert is my lover, for hers is aura soft sacred cover.

I caught a pigeon praying— It stood motionless
At the centre of a hallway midwinter. As I walked toward it— Velvet neck craned upward, Sifting light on red eyes; I thought of a baby peacock
At first, no, a common house pigeon, still, Who knew how long it had stood there.
It didn’t move as I approached it, The air around it remained untousled By grey wing till I stepNow I am careful To not step too close.
It stood next on the railing And looked like an old lawyer In observance of rite; As entranced by the dust it stood As enshrined by the light.

In the hallowed halls where knowledge I gained, Four years passed, a journey unchained. Among the faces that became so dear, A tale of friendship, I proudly revere.
Aditya, with addictions that knew no bounds, Guiding me through life's intricate rounds. Sarath, a heavy rock through the tide, Together we laughed; in unity, we'd stride.
Amey, a companion in joy, sorrow, and strife,
We shared the laughter that filled our life. Pakhi, an unexpected melody in my college song, In a foreign land, we hummed along.
Roshni, a spark in the darkest night, With her, only foolish decisions turned to light.
Toshika, the artist with a vocabulary so bright, Painting memories, a comedy of delight.
By Arnav JoshiYet, in this joyous celebration, A longing heart seeks its own salvation. Kadya, a star from afar, In the distance, our souls did spar.
Through exams and late-night talks, In every silence, in every paradox, Your absence echoed through the years, A melody of longing, soft but clear.
Now, as we don the cap and gown, With dreams to chase and paths to crown, I'll miss the laughter, the tears we've shed, In my heart, the echoes of friendship bled.
In the yearbook of life, this chapter is complete, With memories etched, both bitter and sweet. So here's to the friends, the laughter, the pain, As we scatter like seeds in the wind and the rain.
In the garden of memories, we'll always be, Graduation day, a bittersweet symphony.
A Heist- With a Desi twist!
By Pratik BapatDileep struggled to remain calm as his car crawled along the poorly maintained road. Suddenly, he heard an explosive sound coming from his front-left tyre. Dileep slowed his car to a halt.
He came out and gave a resounding kick to the tyre. He regretted it immediately as his foot started throbbing with searing pain. He cried out like an unleashed feral animal. He cursed everything and everyone he coul d: his car, the bumpy road, his boss and the Indian government. When he was done cursing, he finally moved on to replace the tire.
After unsuccessfully trying to replace the tyre for a few minutes, the frustrated man had already taken a break. There was no auto repair shop for miles to come and there was no way he could push his car for that long. He gazed upward and saw a figure running towards him. Th e figure came closer and closer until its features became crystal clear. Dileep stood up and got ready for a fight.
The other man, however, collapsed a few meters away. Dileep rushed to help him up. The man was a curious figure to encounter in this hinterland. He looked like an urban professional who had just fled a warzone. The man wore a white shirt, trousers, and formal shoes but was covered in swe at and grime. “Bro, run, escape!” he exclaimed. “but why?” Dileep asked. ” this road is subject to the rule of deadly bandits, and they won’t just steal, they are bloodthirsty men who will kill you for no reason” he shouted before gulping air.
Then he continued “Run if you wish to save your life, I have escaped somehow but I can’t run anymore I.” The man broke down. “Heeyyy, don’t give up,” Dileep said. “I know they will get me” he wailed and then in a serious tone he asked,” Is your car more important than your LIFE?” Dileep shook his head. “then bro, this my last wish, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!” the man exclaimed as if it was the last thing he wou ld do in this world.
Panic gripped Dileep and he ran as fast as he could and as far as his legs could carry him. He finally stopped near a tall tree. He was covered in sweat and his heart was throbbing. Dileep collapsed and thanked god, wishing the angelic man who saved him would get a good afterlife. He suddenly saw the headlights of a car. He struggled toget up and go the road to try and get a ride.
As the car came closer, Dileep’s face turned purple. It was of the same make and model as his car and the driver was none other than the ‘angelic’ man who had ‘saved’ him. The swindler waved at him before driving ahead. It was a heist with a desi twist!

Initially, it was about picking a handful of clubs, throwing the balls at the wall and seeing what stuck. I suppose, it would’ve come as a surprise to literally nobody that I fit right into Snuphoria, the Music Club. It didn’t take long after campus opened in 2022, for the first breeze to come by, and I was already on stage, as part of every single Club performance that year. Since then it’s been a fairly linear journey, both within the club, and as an independent artiste.
I spent my 3rd through 6th semester, in the Extended Core of my club, and the last two semester after, as an Associate Secretary, obsessively working away for one of the only things I love more than anything else in this world: Music, and here, making sure that everyone around me have an environment and thus the opportunity to love and be involved in it the way I have been. And looking back, I’d like to think, that I accomplished that the best I could.
Outside of which, I got my first projects to work on multiple short films, and even a full length film, but I also worked on my juniors and seniors for one of my most successful works. Chandi Ka
Aina, the Hindi version of Velli Kinnam, was probably one of the few works at the time, that helped me prove to everyone, but most importantly to myself, that my works were worth listening to, and I don’t think that’s an initiative I would’ve not taken, if I wasn’t here at SNIoE. It certainly was, quite a ride.

Grab your popcorn and buckle up because I'm about to take you on a rollercoaster ride through my unforgettable journey as the chairperson of Breeze, our university's ultimate cultural techno fest! From the highs of triumph to the lows of chaos, it's been one wild ride that I wouldn't trade for the world.
Picture this: a freshman version of me, wide-eyed and full of wonder, stumbling upon Breeze for the first time. Little did I know that this seemingly ordinary event would become the highlight of my university experience. Fast forward a few years, and there I was, leading the charge as chairperson, with a team of rockstars by my side and a heart full of dreams.
Breeze is where the magic happens. It's the place where creativity knows no bounds, where passion runs wild, and where dreams take flight on a techno beat. But let's not forget the fun stuff—the impromptu dance parties in the hallway, the endless supply of cheesy snacks fueling our late-night brainstorming sessions, and the inside jokes that kept us sane when things got a little too hectic.
As chairperson, I've had the pleasure of working alongside some of the most brilliant, hilarious, and downright quirky individuals I've ever met. Together, we've faced our fair share of challenges—from last-minute costume malfunctions to the great printer meltdown of '23—but through it all, we've laughed, we've cried, and we've come out stronger on the other side.
BREEZE
Breeze isn't just an event, it's a way of life. It's the friendships forged in the fire of chaos, the memories made in the heat of the moment, and the sheer joy of knowing that you're part of something bigger than yourself. So here's to Breeze, the ultimate adventure that taught me the true meaning of passion, perseverance, and the power of a well-timed dance break. As I bid farewell to my role as chairperson, I do so with a heart full of gratitude and a smile on my face. Thank you to everyone who made this journey one for the books. You've filled my life with laughter, love, and more memories than I can count. And as we turn the page to the next chapter, I can't wait to see where the wind takes us next.
With love, laughter, and a whole lot of Breeze-induced joy
Anushna Garg Breeze Chairperson (2023-2024)BREEZE
Breeze - it's more than just an event; it's the highlight of our university, pulsating with energy, creativity, and memories that will last a lifetime. As I reflect on my journey through these four incredible years, I can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the privilege of being a part of something truly extraordinary.
From my humble beginnings as a volunteer, to navigating the intricate world of finances as the head, and eventually stepping into the role of co-chairperson and advisor, each step of this journey has been transformative. Breeze wasn't just an event I attended; it became a part of who I am.
Those three magical days of Breeze each year were a whirlwind of hard work, late nights, laughter, and camaraderie. Behind the scenes, we poured our hearts and souls into making every moment unforgettable for our fellow students. From organizing workshops and competitions to curating mind-blowing performances, every detail was crafted with love and dedication.
But amidst the chaos, there was always a sense of joy and fulfillment that permeated the air. It's the friendships forged in the heat of the moment, the sense of accomplishment as we watched our vision come to life, and the sheer exhilaration of being surrounded by a community united in passion and purpose.
BREEZE
As I bid farewell to Breeze and my university, I carry with me a treasure trove of memories and lessons learned. Thank you, Breeze, for being the highlight of my college experience - the stage where I discovered my strengths, embraced my passions, and found my second family.
Here's to the magic of Breeze, may it continue to inspire and ignite the flames of creativity in years to come.

Journey - Harnam Chhabra
My time at SNU has been a whirlwind of growth and achievement, with each day presenting new opportunities for exploration and self-discovery.
The foundation of SNU's multi-disciplinary curriculum allowed me to pursue my passions across various fields, culminating in the unique accomplishment of securing a double minor in computer science and mathematics, being the first student in the university till-date to successfully complete the combination.
To SNU – thank you for shaping me into the person I am today. Here's to the next chapter, filled with endless possibilities and new horizons.
Beyond the classroom, I immersed myself in the vibrant extra-curricular life at SNU, taking on multiple leadership roles within the Cultural Committee. From serving as a Senator to being a Core Member and eventually the Secretary of the Cultural Affairs at SNU.
But beyond the accolades and accomplishments lies a deeper gratitude for the community that nurtured me. From faculty to fellow peers, each played a crucial role in my growth, offering unwavering support and encouragement every step of the way. As I reflect on my time at SNU, I'm filled with a profound sense of appreciation and nostalgia. The friendships forged, the lessons learned, and the memories created will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Vittartha: A Tapestry Woven with Passion and Purpose
By: Suraksha KeshwaniVittartha, a concept that emerged from the mind of Sushobhan Paul, a PhD Scholar, has blossomed into a vibrant tapestry of knowledge and intellectual exploration. It is not merely a discussion group; but a testament to the combined efforts of countless individuals who poured their passion and dedication into making this dream a reality.
From the initial brainstorming sessions to the meticulous structuring of the group, every step of Vittartha's journey has been marked by its members' unwavering commitment. We have spent countless days engaged in thought-provoking discussions, shaping the very essence of this community.
Vittartha is more than just a group; it is a family, a sanctuary where we can connect, collaborate, and share our unwavering belief in the transformative power of knowledge. Each member of Vittartha is a proud contributor, an integral thread in the tapestry of our collective success.
As I look towards the future of Vittartha, I am filled with immense optimism and gratitude. This community will continue to flourish, inspiring and empowering future generations of students to embark on their journeys of intellectual discovery. Thank you to every Vittartha member for participating in this incredible journey.
As I close this chapter, I inscribe Vittartha into the pages of our yearbook, not as a mere extracurricular pursuit but as an indelible imprint on our hearts, a testament to the transformative power of unity and the unwavering quest for knowledge.
BLEED AWAY
It all started without a plan, We ended up having a battle clan!
A short and cute trip took a nasty turn, When the car got a heavy burn.
I was the only master with the power; But I died in the car under the Eiffel Tower...
Now who is going to repair the bleeding heart, As I was the only master to repair that part?
Now it will be displayed on a chart, With an empty flower cart.
Our journey has just ended, That was imperfectly blended.
LUCID DREAMS
Life seems to have given me a dare While thinking sitting on a chair On the seashore near Port Blair; This I won't let spare.
But even as I play to this dare, I am tormented by a nightmare; Of you my dear who will take care
From that very mighty slayer?
Life is playing very very fair, By giving me this dare
To fight the mighty slayer And bring you back from this mazy nightmare!

Student Council 2023-24
President: Jagganath Verma Kalidindi, Vice-President: Dharaneeshwar Prakash
Cultural Secretary: Harnam Singh Chhabra, Sports Secretary: Pranav Mallipudi
Message for the former office bearers from Brig. Steve Ismail (Retd)
"As the yearbook prepares to feature a page dedicated to the current student council, with all four office bearers set to graduate this year, what one message would you like to convey to them?"
I found them to be very responsive and very diligent in their activities in general terms. I also found that they grew as individuals, so what they were when I joined and what they were 8 or 9 months later, they have transformed by their own experience of doing the job they do. Starting with President Jagannath, I have rarely seen an individual who is so committed. Whatever the perceptions of the student body may be, I have seen him working day and night to try and do the best that he can for the students. I have seen him endlessly following up on issues, communicating, and I think that he is a person who has great drive, and that drive will probably carry him in whichever field he goes.
Coming to Dharaneeshwar, the vice president, is a laid-back, relaxed-looking fellow with a very sharp mind and a nice and quiet sense of humour that can always bring a smile to your face in any situation. I think he is one person who is probably a relaxing and cheering influence in any gathering of people. In the last few months, he has been functioning very efficiently. He is always a treat to interact with. I am sure that he will do very well in the field of economics, which he is interested in.
Moving on to the cultural secretary, Harnam, a dynamo of energy, passionate, full of bounds and drive to do cultural events. Just looking at him, you get the impression of a spinning ball, totally involved and passionate about his cultural activities. He has a good sense of humour and, again, I think he is a committed individual. Wishing him all the best. Lastly, the sports secretary, Pranav. I think he is one of the most dignified students on campus with whom I have interacted. He has a great presence and selfassuredness, is quiet, and doesn't speak very much, but again, he is true to his appointment and works very diligently in the field of sports. Above all, he always remains cheerful and is a good company to spend some time with. Wishing him good luck.
Fresher‘s Week
The year 2023 marked a turning point for the Cultural Committee as we embarked on a journey of transformation. Recognizing the need for a stronger, more cohesive team, we undertook the arduous task of restructuring. It was a labor of love fueled by our shared commitment to enhancing the cultural landscape of SNU.
As the former Cultural Secretary, I felt a deep sense of responsibility to lead this revitalization effort. Guided by the vision of fostering creativity and inclusivity, we assembled a team of passionate individuals dedicated to redefining the role of the Cultural Committee.
Together, we worked tirelessly to streamline processes, cultivate stronger relationships with student bodies, and infuse our events with newfound energy and purpose.
Amidst the challenges and uncertainties, there was an unmistakable sense of camaraderie and determination that permeated every meeting and brainstorming session. It was a testament to the unwavering spirit of our team and a reminder of the power of collective action.
The fruits of our labor became evident with the inception of Freshers Week, a culmination of months of planning and collaboration. This week-long celebration was more than just a series of events; it was a testament to the resilience and creativity of our committee. From the electrifying Club Fair to the exhilarating Freshers Games and the unforgettable Freshers Night, each moment was imbued with emotion and significance.
As I reflect on the impact of our efforts, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to have been part of such a transformative journey. The memories we created and the bonds we forged will forever hold a special place in my heart. Here's to the resilience, the camaraderie, and the endless possibilities that lie ahead for the Cultural Committee and the vibrant community it serves.
By: Harnam Singh ChhabraDastaan
And then came the grand finale of our tenure: 'Dastaan', a three-day extravaganza that brought the entire university together. It began with a delightful fusion of food and music, setting the stage for what was to come. The energy soared higher as we transitioned into the Freshers Night, where talents shone bright and spirits soared higher.
But it was the Prom Night that truly capped off the festivities in style. As students dressed their best and danced the night away, it was evident that 'Dastaan' had left its mark on all of us. These three days were a culmination of months of hard work and dedication by the Cultural Committee.
As the curtains closed on this spectacular event, it left behind memories that will be cherished for years to come. 'Dastaan' wasn't just a cultural fest; it was a celebration of unity, talent, and the vibrant spirit of SNU. It will forever remain etched in the hearts of all who were part of it. Here's to the Cultural Committee for making 'Dastaan' a festival to remember.

By Syam Surya Sai Teja GuggilapuIn the realm of report card disappointments, an unexpected solace emerges — unsolicited praise for my cinematic endeavors. The resonance is most profound when echoed by juniors caught in fan moments and seniors extending heartfelt appreciation.
Amidst the rigors of sleepless nights and countless trials, I reflect on the greater narrative of my journey, wherein even the adversities served as catalysts for personal growth.
These four years have been a rigorous training ground for life beyond the campus gates. Stepping into the real world, I encountered challenges that shaped me in unforeseen ways. My mantra has been simple: follow your heart and instincts.
Despite the ups and downs, the joy resides in the process of writing and directing. Upon reflection, I acknowledge the flaws in my work, yet in those fleeting moments, I relish the conviction that fueled the creation for audiences and kindred spirits.
Life mirrors art in its complexity. Looking back might trigger poignant memories, but as someone loved once said, our present selves are molded by the trials and tribulations of yesteryears.
Embracing the philosophy that "if you can't achieve success in your obsession, no one else can," I find inspiration in the madness that fuels passion. On the set, the directive "action" signifies a moment of undivided focus, a principle I apply to life — when I speak, others must heed.
This ethos propels me forward, reminding me to cherish the present, appreciating those who stand by me in this moment.

“Lost and Found In verse”
-Chaheti Goyal
“Lost and Found in Verse” emerges as a deeply personal narrative inspired by an in-class poetry exercise in which the author described his journey of reconnecting with nature after the recent loss of his sibling. Similarly, this piece unfurls my last 15 months' tale, a dance of grief, love, and renewal after losing both my maternal grandparents and my paternal grandfather. As a classically trained kathak dancer, my journey has primarily been one of interpreting and embodying tales of Radha-Krishna. However, this piece marks a departure from the familiar terrain, an odyssey into the uncharted territories of my own sorrow. For a dancer accustomed to the traditional choreographies from the Gurus, a self-choreography with layers of emotions seems like a challenge which reminds me of my first-ever question to our dance Professor Aadya, “I can perform any learnt choreography very well, but why do I always struggle with the facial expression? “To which she replied, “Because you are not performing your own stories, Chaheti, you are performing Radha’s and Krishna’s story; the day you perform your own story, the expressions will be there.” This piece allowed me to explore the Navarasa within the contours of my own body. This performance is my unspoken conversation with the audience. A courageous expression of vulnerability through the movement "Lost and Found in Verse" is not a goodbye, but a celebration of the enduring spirit born from the crucible of profound loss. This dance is not a farewell; it is a celebration. It is a celebration of the resilience that blooms in the aftermath of heartache, a celebration of the strength derived from the delicate dance between sorrow and healing. It is a celebration of life's inevitable cycle—of being lost in the depths of sorrow and ultimately finding solace and renewal. I extend an invitation to the audience to embark on this emotional journey with me.

SURGE
“More Than Sports, It's a Journey of Triumph”
The second offline edition of Surge, the Annual Intercollege Sports Fest of Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence, took place from the 3rd to the 5th of November 2023. Surge has always been dedicated to fostering a culture of sportsmanship and teamwork among students.
Featuring 11 sports - athletics, basketball, badminton, chess, cricket, football, futsal, volleyball, squash, tennis, and table tennis - the fest attracted participation from over 80 colleges across India. With a total of 2000 participants joining the SNIoE teams, the competition witnessed over 500 matches played over 4 action-packed days.
With unwavering dedication, the organizing committee meticulously delved into every intricate aspect of this fest over a span of more than 6 months. Their goal was to present a show beyond reproach. Following the success of the inaugural Surge edition in November 2022, expectations ran high among both the student community and the administration for this year’s committee.
However, with the steadfast support of our exceptional team, the administration, the sports department, and notably, the generous contributions from our esteemed sponsors such as Wai Wai, Cosco, Yonex, Stag, Fuji Films, Dassault Systems, Jio Saavan, and many others, we surpassed everyone's expectations. Together, we navigated this fest to unprecedented heights, setting new standards of sporting ethos for all involved.
SURGE
Day 0 commenced on the 2nd of November, with the eagerly anticipated inaugural cricket and football matches. As Day 1 unfolded, the campus buzzed with activity as all sporting events kicked off, drawing enthusiastic participation from students and external participants alike. Despite challenges like crowd control, the fest continued to thrive, reaching its peak on Days 2 and 3, with intense semifinals and finals.
The fest culminated in a grand prize distribution ceremony on the 5th of November, honouring the passion and accomplishments of all participants. Surge boasted the highest turnout of external participants in any fest organized at SNU. To cap off the festivities, we were honoured to have Mr. Mahim Verma, Ex BCCI Vice President, as our Chief Guest to present the awards. No fest is complete without a celebration, and the eagerly anticipated DJ night following the prize distribution ceremony proved to be a highlight of the event. The evening was further electrified by a captivating performance from Inferno, the dance society of SNU, leaving everyone with unforgettable memories to cherish.
Surge transcended being just an event; it became an emotional journey of preparation, practice, and accomplishment. The camaraderie, challenges, and triumphs combined to create an extraordinary college experience cherished by us all. Being a part of such a special endeavour is a privilege we will always treasure.
With Love and Memories,
Surge Overall CoordinatorsQ & A Brig. Steve Ismail (retd)
Q- "Could you share any unique incidents or experiences from your time at SNU that stand out to you, ones that differ from your previous experiences or memories?"
A- I've spent my life in the army, and prior to that, I was in military training for many years from a very young age. So, one thing I've always had in my life is clarity of mission and purpose. Every single hour and every single day, we're trained and conditioned to focus on what we're doing because the price of not doing so is too high for us. This is my first exposure possibly coming out of the armed forces environment into a community of people who are students at different stages.
One thing that struck me was the positive energy and eagerness in many students. There's a lot of eagerness and positive energy to engage in various activities such as clubs, societies, and events like Surge and Breeze. I noticed that students involved in conducting these activities were very passionate and committed, often working late hours without needing to be told or driven to do so. The same could be said for the student council. Elected members devoted most of their day to attending to their responsibilities rather than just being figureheads.
However, on the less positive side, I noticed a certain segment of students who seemed directionless. They were simply passing time on campus, perhaps enjoying the freedom after leaving their school years and being away from home. They didn't seem to have any purpose or focus, which is concerning because it won't lead them to the outcomes they desire in life.
Q- "As someone from an army background, what advice or insights would you offer to the graduating batch as they enter their professional journey? Specifically, what key trait or factor do you believe is essential for students to possess as they transition into the professional world?"
A- I believe that in any profession or walk of life, feeling fulfilled requires serving a purpose beyond oneself. This purpose must be something larger than oneself, towards which one directs their energies. Unfortunately, in current times, there is a lot of emphasis on the self, on personal happiness, dreams, and goals. While these are important, true fulfillment comes from being valued by others, not just valuing oneself. We are valued by others when we serve a purpose of value, regardless of the profession.
This means being dependable, and capable, and demonstrating qualities that make us a positive influence in any environment we work in. And, like anything in life, this requires practice. Just as one must exercise to become physically strong, one must exercise their ability to serve a purpose in order to be effective at it. It's not something that can be put off until later.
My advice to anyone entering the professional world is to fully engage in their work or profession, becoming dependable and valuable. Let others see that you are a valuable contributor to the team, which will require effort and work. In doing so, you will earn respect, receive your due recognition, find satisfaction, and lead a fulfilled life.
Q-"Can you share a memorable or funny incident that occurred during your time on campus? Something unexpected that happened out of the blue, but you thoroughly enjoyed?"
A- One of my most enjoyable experiences on this campus has been my unstructured interactions with students. For example, I make it a point to have at least one meal in the dining hall, where I seek out a table where two, three, or four students are already seated and eating. Even though I don't know any of them, I sit down alongside them. Sometimes, they look surprised or uncomfortable, and I often jest, "Allow me to spoil your lunch or dinner." Out of politeness, they usually decline, but then we sit together. Sometimes, these interactions don't lead to much conversation, but many times, I've had the best conversations, ideas, and feedback from students in these exchanges. These interactions are completely unstructured, with no idea how the other person will respond or react. Nine times out of ten, I come away feeling how nice it was that I came to DH 2/3 today, I come away feeling energized and grateful for the experience. It's like a highlight of my day, sitting with unknown students during my meals. If I hadn't done so, I wouldn't have had such a nice experience.
Q-"What's your favourite spot on campus outside of your office?"
A- If you were to ask me about my favourite spot on campus, it would definitely be the lake. I tend to be on the peripheral road often, running or riding to the stables. I enjoy nature, and the lake is possibly the most beautiful and energizing spot on the whole campus. At different times of the day, you get different energy— whether it's the early morning, daytime, or evening. Our university is very fortunate to have such a beautiful lake.
Q- "If you could replace one thing on campus—whether it's a policy, rule, infrastructure, or anything else— what would be the first thing that comes to your mind?"
A- This campus, envisioned and created by our founder, Mr. Shiv Nadar, is truly beautiful. As students, staff, and faculty, we need to pause and remind ourselves of the privilege we have to be on such a campus. Many of us, when we enter various professions, may not even see a blade of grass or a tree; we may find ourselves in multi-storied buildings. In those moments, we'll fondly remember the green open spaces of this campus. If you were to ask me one thing that I feel we're missing out on here, it's the utilization of the sports facilities. I strongly believe that physical activity and sports are integral to our well-being and completeness as individuals. We're privileged to have excellent spaces and facilities here, but they're not utilized in the manner I'd like to see.
I would like to see sports being integrated into the life of a residential campus like this, at least for two days a week. I propose that all classes should finish by 5 pm at the latest, and every student, regardless of their proficiency level, should participate in mandatory sports for one hour on those two days. Whether it's in the evening or morning, it should be a compulsory part of the program. I'm confident that this initiative will help many of us feel better about ourselves, release stress and tensions, and honour the vision of our founder, who gifted us such a beautiful campus.
Q- "Do you have any concluding words or advice you would like to offer to the fourth-year stude nts?"
A- I wish you all the best. When you look at graduation, you may think of it as your finish line. But I'd like to remind you that it's actually the start line. It's not the finish line. Everything you've done before this was just a warm-up phase. Now, you're at the start line. From the day you graduate, you're the master of your own destiny and the scripter of your own life. Do a good job. Don't let yourself down.
50 Shades of Winter
By Ashwani GargBlinks but an hour or two, and then, A blood-red orange sets again, Late lies the wintry sun a-bed, A frosty, fiery sleepy-head glen…
The night is darkening around me, The wild wind coldly blows, Setting nature all a-quiver, eradicating the quietude, Turning everything lacklustre as it flows…
Permeated in the golden shimmer, Black are my steps on silver sod, I witnessed those 50 Shades of winter, Thick blows my frosty breath aboard…

FOUNDED BY THE CLASS OF 2024
Strategen
Founded by Harnam Singh Chhabra"As I reflect on my time here at SNU, one of the highlights undoubtedly has been the journey of founding Strategen, our psychology and behavioral science club. From the moment the idea sparked in my mind, I was driven by a passion to create a space where fellow students could engage in deep discussions about the intricacies of the human mind and delve into philosophical musings.
What amazed me most was the seamless process SNU offered for starting something new. With the unwavering support of my peers and the guidance of our seniors, Strategen came to life in my very first year. Together with a group of friends who shared my vision, we embarked on a mission to foster intellectual curiosity and exploration within our university community.
Collaborating with Nexus, the gaming society, to bring our first event, 'Galactica,' to fruition was a defining moment. This live board game, steeped in strategy and competition, not only entertained but also challenged participants to think critically and strategically.
However, what truly made this journey special was witnessing the vibrant discussions and camaraderie that flourished within Strategen's meetings and events. From short games to thought-provoking forums, every gathering was an opportunity for personal growth and connection.
As I pass the torch to future leaders, I am filled with hope and excitement for the future of Strategen. May it continue to be a beacon of intellectual curiosity and a platform for deep exploration for generations of SNU students to come.
Founding Strategen has been a defining chapter of my SNU experience, one that I will cherish and carry with me as I embark on new adventures. Here's to the memories made, the friendships forged, and the endless possibilities that lie ahead."
FOUNDED BY THE CLASS OF 2024 Equesterian Club
Founded by Jagannath Varma KIn the early days of April 2021, a spirited newcomer, Jagannath Varma Kalidindi, took the initiative to establish the Equestrian Club, under the guidance of Maj.Gen. Jai, aiming to streamline and enhance all equestrian- related activities on campus. His vision was to create a structured platform that would efficiently organize, structure and build student engagements associated with these activities.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and a reduced student presence on campus, the club witnessed an unprecedented surge in sign-ups, setting a new record for student club participation. More than just a sports club, the Equestrian Club operates as an immersive training program, placing a paramount focus on the welfare of the horses.
It offers a range of activities, prominently featuring horse riding classes while also serving as a liaison between the administration, DSA (Dean of Student Affairs), and DoPE (Department of Physical Education) as the primary point of contact for student-related equestrian endeavours.
The club’s ethos revolves not solely around horse riding but extends to nurturing various other essential skills such as handling, grooming, and fostering an array of enjoyable activities centered around the magnificent creatures. Jagannath’s proactive approach and the overwhelming response from the student body in embracing this club during the pandemic highlight the dedication to the well-being of horses and the eagerness among students to engage in these enriching equestrian experiences.
Presently, Mr. Anil Kumar, DGM Administration, stands as a strong coordinating force, offering invaluable support on behalf of the SNU Administration.

The Last Page
And just like we reach the end of this book. It went by quicker than the last 4 years, didn’t it? We had the privilege of compiling this yearbook, and we hope you liked it. It’s surreal to think that the people we’ve met, laughed with, and passed by, will now be scattered all over the world, only connected by the promises of what comes tomorrow, and the memories of what came before. It will be hard to stay in touch but we hope that we can all find our way back to each other. We hope these 4 years were memorable for you in the best way possible, we hope you take them with you everywhere you go, and we wish everyone the very best. Guess it’s finally time to walk up that stage, and out the gates of SNU to take on everything that comes next. Goodbye and All the best!
Godspeed.
