Pets are part of the family, and it’s hard to imagine a holiday without them. Luckily the Shoalhaven is one of Australia’s leading pet friendly destinations, so bring them along! Our mix of pet friendly adventures, restaurants, wineries, breweries, unique holiday accommodation and off-leash nature areas offer visitors the ultimate #petfriendlyhaven.
There are many pet friendly holiday home options and unique stays in the Shoalhaven. Lounge in luxurious pup friendly comfort amongst cool coastal décor in one of Bannisters Pavilion’s dog friendly rooms in Mollymook. Animals are adored at Interludes by Willinga Park at Bawley Point, you should see the how well horses live at the state of the art equine facility next door! It offers luxury pet friendly villas in secluded bush settings, and sun filled verandahs for lazy afternoon snuggles with doggo. Surfside Cudmirrah Beach has the cutest cabins near the ocean, with private gated courtyards to keep your pooch safe.
The Shoalhaven has stunning pet friendly areas, particularly our beaches. Play unlimited fetch at Seven Mile Beach in Shoalhaven Heads, on Washerwomans Beach in Bendalong, or Ulladulla Harbour North Beach. All have 24-hour off-leash areas. Remember to scoop up poop and read beach signage for pet friendly times and exclusion zones to avoid fines and protect vulnerable coastal wildlife. Endangered shorebirds nest in some locations between August and April. Dogs may disturb shorebirds, which can be lethal to their survival, so please share the shore responsibly. Is your pet as adventurous as you are? Join a pet welcoming tour or activity. Paddle pristine waterways, pup at your feet, with Sussex Inlet SUP. Kotahi Tours have guided pet friendly eco walks along the river’s edge and through casuarina forest at Fisherman’s Paradise. Keen to take a pet free guided day tour or visit national parks? That’s no problem. Just book ahead at one of the kennels offering doggy daycare services, like Paradise Pet Parks.
Hungry families can lap up some pet friendly dining options. Try a devonshire tea overlooking paddocks and mountains at Greendale’s Café and Restaurant at Pyree. Thirsty pup owners can relax in the outdoor beer gardens in Woollamia at Jervis Bay Brewing Co or Flamin Galah Brewing Co. For a classic coastal or country pub experience, call ahead to secure an outdoor table at Shoalhaven Heads Hotel for a meal overlooking the river and distant ocean. Enjoy water views at the outdoor tables at Jervis Bay Pavilion in Huskisson, check out stunning mountain views in the garden at The Friendly Inn Kangaroo Valley, or sit undercover out front of The Berry Hotel, sip a cold drink, scratch your pup’s ears and watch the world go by.
