Hyperion House Watergrasshill, Cork, Ireland Year: 2020 | Area: 250 sqm Role: Architect designer | Status: Project
(1) Map location. (2) Figure showing the proposed location of the two new apartments along with the space for future project.
The idea of this project was to separate the initial house into two apartments with independent entrances. For this purpose, it was necessary to extend 18sqm of one section of the building to add a new kitchen and an upstairs bedroom. The first apartment consists of a living room, kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom. The second apartment consists of an
entrance hall, guest bathroom, living room, kitchen, utility room, three bedrooms and a full bathroom. Additionally, due to the large rear space attached to the property, each apartment has a separate rear garden and an entrance was also provided to allow for the possible development of a separate independent projec.

This transformation of spaces results in the connection between the kitchen and the living room as a single open space, where this linear circulation makes it possible for recreational, service and social areas to play a fundamental role for spatial perception.

In my most recent work experience, I provided 3D modeling services for the interior and exterior design of a number of residential projects in Cork. The majority of the projects were located in the country side, these are a few models which I did during this time. (*) Images of the 3D models of varius residential projects.

The existing house is located in the seaside village of Rosscarbery, a location which is highly relevant to the context and history of Ireland. The house is used as a holiday location by a multi - generational family, most frequently during the summer months
but also regularly throughout the year. The ground floor will be renovated, adding more light and spaces, especially in the social areas such as the living room, kitchen, dining room and the back garden which will be part of the extension design.

(1) View of the extension from the back garden.
The motivation for the expansion of this house into the rear garden was to develop the social areas to allow for a more spacious feel with an emphasis on the entry of light using skylights. In turn, a balance of sun and shade is generated through the vegetation in the garden creating a comfortable and private environment.

The design of this car dealership showroom consisted of dividing the main floor into two separate spaces for the two brands of the company (Peugeot/Kenbo). The main requirement was to reuse the existing structure inside. The interior space consisted of a showroom with the capacity to display ten cars, three restrooms for costumers and two for staff, a playground for children, three offices and a meeting room.
