VECO kite flying tips

The Visayan Electric Company, Inc. (VECO) is reminding the public to fly kites in open areas. This is in accordance on Cebu City Ordinance 1471 which prohibits flying kites near power and telecommunications lines and other similar structures. Based on 2016 data, at least 140 power interruptions are caused by kites stuck in overhead power lines. They have also advised kite flyers to use cotton, linen, or nylon strings as metal ones can cause electrocution when it touches power lines.
