In November of 2020, Fashion Cents Consignment opened its doors and has since become one of the most popular consignment shops in the area. Funny enough, the original Fashion Cents, which is located in Strasburg, has been advertising with The Shopping News since 2017. Running ads in such promotions as The Shopping News’ bi-annual Resale Resource Guide over the years, owner Brittany Allen realized the importance of advertising for the new location in The Shopping News. Allen states: “Fashion Cents Consignment is a one-of-a-kind shopping and consigning experience. We carry up-to-date fashions for the whole family as well as toys, baby essentials, home goods, furniture and more. We had success running ads for our Strasburg location even before we decided to open up a store in Ephrata, so continuing and expanding our advertising presence in The Shopping News was a no-brainer decision!” Allen goes on to say: “We’ve had such success in running ads and coupons in The Shopping News that we’ve decided to run ads every week.” Look for a money-saving Coupon for Fashion Cents in this week’s issue of The Shopping News. Fashion Cents Consignment is located at 240 North Reading Road in Ephrata. They can be reached at 717-687-8470, through their website www.fashioncentsconsignment.com or through their popular Facebook page. Their hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. If you happen to be in the Strasburg area, check out their original shop at 255 North Decatur Street, Strasburg, PA 17579. They also have locations in Morgantown and East Earl.

CHIMMY *** This week we again raise our spry Deitscher Schtrohhut in salute to Eddie Charles of Middleburg in Snyder County, who graciously is sharing with us the dialect columns of his late father, W. Edwin Charles, who was at the time of his death the owner and editor of the Middleburg POST. William Edwin Charles was born in Union Township, Snyder County, on September 28, 1870. He died at the age of 62 on June 7, 1933, in Middleburg, Snyder County. From 1909 to 1922 he served as the Register and Recorder of Snyder County. In 1925, he and another gentleman began a job printing business; in 1928, this business merged with the Middleburg Post Company. Mr. Charles was the editor of the POST from 1928 to 1933. It was during these years that he wrote and published his ONKEL YARICK columns in the POST. EN DANKSDAAG EILAADING BRIEF appeared on November 21, 1929. W. Edwin Charles was a close friend of Colonel T. H. Harter, who became famous as “Gottlieb Boonastiel.” “Boonastiel” died on May 31, 1933 and “Onkel Yarick” on June 7, 1933. With the kind permission of Eddie Charles we plan to dip into the ONKEL YARICK columns from time to time. We hope EN DANKSDAAG EILAADING BRIEF will contribute to the enjoyment of your 1986 Thanksgiving holiday. November 26, 1986 En dankbaar BischliGnippli

Senior

While in his senior year at Cocalico, Trenner “Trey” Hunter, son of Robyn and James Hunter, has had his year packed full. His courses this year include AP Microeconomics, Financial Literacy, Marketing, World Geography, AP Statistics, Physics, English, and Physical Education. Outside of his classes, Trey is also involved in student government, Cocalico Mock Trial, Cocalico Book Club, and Peace Church Youth Group. In his future, Trey would like to attend a school such as Florida Gulf Coast University, University of South Florida, or Louisiana State University. He has plans to pursue a career as a realtor. Outside of school, Trey is a busser at Texas Roadhouse in Wyomissing. In his free time, he enjoys running, reading, journaling, weight lifting, athletics, cooking, baking, and hanging out with his friends. If he could travel anywhere, he would go to space. He said that he “would love to be one of the few who have gone up there.” Some fun facts about Trey are that he can name every country’s flag, he doesn’t like chocolate, and he has shaved his head three times. One of his proudest achievements is that he has been able to change. One of his favorite quotes is, “Get out of your head and get into your heart. Think less, feel more!” by Osho. Cocalico wishes Trey the best of luck as he finishes out his senior Written by: Madison Zepp year and moves on into his future.

Lititz Christian School

Angie Scanlan Senior

Angie Scanlan, daughter of Rebecca Morris and Kevin Scanlan, is a kind-hearted and hard-working senior at Lititz Christian School. She enjoys learning new things and being with her friends. At LCS she is a part of the varsity girls volleyball and basketball teams that have done very well in the past years. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society which require a lot of dedication and hard work. Out of many accomplishments she is most proud of being a two time district champion and getting to the state quarterfinals with the volleyball team. Outside of school she spends her time hanging out with her friends and family, playing volleyball, and attending the youth group at Calvary Church. As she is reaching the end of high school she is looking into attending Messiah University to get her Masters degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. In all of this she is very thankful to her mom and admires her for everything she does, especially how she loves Jesus with her whole heart. Finally, if there is one thing that Angie could change in the world it would be that every person Written by: Josiah Lapp got to know the love of Jesus.

THIS WEEK’S

Biblical Message

“Objects in the Mirror… by Pastor Ricky Kurth …are closer than they appear.” That’s the warning you see on the passenger side mirror of your car. The convexity of the mirror gives you a more panoramic rear view, but it also makes the cars behind you look smaller, and further away than they

actually are. This can give the illusion that there is room to change lanes, when the truth is that the driver in the adjacent lane may have to hit the brakes if you do— and the horn! This mirror warning always reminds me of God’s words to Ezekiel: “Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth is for many days to come, and he prophesieth of the times that are far off” (Ezek. 12:27). You’ll notice that the problem wasn’t that God’s people doubted that Ezekiel’s prophecies would come true; they just didn’t think they would come true for a long time. And you

know, God’s people today are no different. When we read Paul’s predictions about the Rapture (I Thes. 4:13 18) and the Judgment Seat of

Christ that will follow (Rom. 14:10), we believe these things will happen, but we tend to think they are a long way off. This can lead to

appear! If you are not living for the Lord, “boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth” (Prov. 27:1). The Rapture may come today, and you may find yourself standing before your Lord and Judge this evening. Why not heed Paul’s admonition, “… knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light” (Rom. 13:11,12).

complacency in serving the Lord, just as it did in Ezekiel’s day. Thus we would do well to read God’s response: “Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; There shall none of My words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done…” (Ezek. 12:28). While we cannot say that the Rapture will be prolonged no longer, we can say with equal assurance that the word which God has spoken to us shall be done. The panoramic view that the mirror of God’s Word affords us (James 1:2224) allows us to see everything that is ahead of us, and these things are closer than they

On June 22, Tonya’s heart was in the right place. Like a lot of busy moms, Tonya tends to put herself last. But when her symptoms kept getting worse, her friends encouraged her to go to WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital. "One second I thought I was just getting older, the next moment I'm having triple bypass surgery," says Tonya. But Tonya's heart truly was in the right place. Her surgeon, Dr. LeBoutillier, is renowned for the exact open-heart technique that Tonya needed. Today, Tonya's heart is strong and still in the right place — enjoying the little moments with her family.

thousands of veterans laid to rest. There were over 42,000 wreaths laid at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Wreaths Across America describes its mission as to remember, honor, and teach. They remember the fallen, honor those who serve and their families, and teach our future generations about the price of freedom. This mission is all year long. When volunteers lay the wreaths, they are encouraged to say the veteran’s name aloud, thank them for their service and sacrifice and

take a moment to reflect on that person and their life. This is just one of the many services that Jesse Jones Squadron 304 provides to the community. Service to their community, their state and their nation is a primary part of the cadet programs within the Civil Air Patrol. Jesse Jones Squadron 304 meets each Monday (except holidays) at 7:00 p.m. in the Venture Jets hangar, which is located, on the airport near the intersection of Lititz Pike and Millport Road. Visitors are always welcome.
