Capt. Justin R. Walzl, Ephrata, was presented the Grover Loening Award for completion of Level 3 during the meeting of the Jesse Jones Squadron 304 on Monday, November 21.

Starting his CAP career as a cadet in 1987 he earned Cadet of the Year in 1990. In 1991, he was promoted to cadet lieutenant colonel and was presented with the Ira Eaker Award in the cadet program. He attended the Pennsylvania Wing encampment four times serving as deputy cadet commander then cadet commander. For the latter service he was presented the Pennsylvania Wing Commander’s Commendation.

Captain Walzl joined as a Senior Member in 1996. In the past, he has been the Squadron Commander and is currently the Deputy Commander for Cadets. He is a valued member of the Squadron and is celebrated and respected by cadets and senior members.

Captain Walzl has been successful in his professional achievements outside of Civil Air Patrol including degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Nursing. He currently works as a Nurse Practitioner in Cardiology. He credits many of his
