Your cat won’t let you forget that.

Yes, I like my cat, she is my good friend; She is always a pleasure to me. She is quiet and clean and friendly and faithful.

As I said, “A special friend!” ***

On September 4, a fat envelope was postmarked in Lancaster. But never fear, the envelope was mailed much closer home than that. The return address was that of a lady who has been writing beautiful dialect verses for The Shopping News for the past several years. We have been featuring Gladys Martin’s poetry in this ECK for an equal length of time and find that her artistry grows year by year. Have a close look at DIE KATZ and see whether you do not agree.

In DIE KATZ, Gladys has succeeded in drawing an accurate and clear portrait of the cat. As she writes, “Die Katz is so an abbaddich Gedier.” Again, we hope Gladys’ poem will inspire others to go and do likewise.

Gladys, this week our winterized Deitscher Schtrohhut greets you with a renewed salute. Deitscher Schtrohhut greets you with a renewed salute. May your artistry grace this corner for many years to come!
